LOCALS PLAYED COMEDY PARTS AT BALL GAME

A. B. C.'s, 5; Richmond, 2. Like nine chapters from the works of that celebrated humorist, George Ade, reads the inning by Inning story of yesterday's alleged ball game out at Athletic park lot. Yea, It was a rare performance awfully rare. Bowser's A. B. C. club, with headquarters out of Indianapolis, was the attraction. Richmond was supposed to be the opposition. In the latter role Richmond was about as popular as the proverbial snowball might be In Ecuador during the recent hot spell. Not that the game was devoid of features. There was a lot of action and many animated scenes to flavor that nine laps of excruciatingly funny pastlming. The Bowser clan as comedians were good ball players. The Richmond crowd as ball players were good comedians. Altogether It was a gay afternoon with lots of the light stuff to amuse the fans and fannesses, who claim the show was worth every one of the 25 pesos necessary to run the gate successfully. The Next Round. (Double Headers.) J.-Fry vs. Pennsy. Atlas vs. I. G. C. . Easthaven vs. Starr. Natco vs. A. S. M. Saturday's Scores. Starr, 5;. I. G. C, 3. Natco, 10; J. Fry, 5. Pennsy, 13; Easthaven, 8. Starr, 5; I. G. C, 3. (Twelve innings.) Held in check for twelve innings by the clever slab work of Al Goslin, Starr Piano, the erstwhile pennant aspiring and high traveling Indianapolis Glove company machine threw a tire in the final round of the speed and endurance test staged at Athletic park Saturday, when Goslin's mates shoved a railroad tie in the shape of three bingles across the track of the R. Hawekotte boat. The wreck took place in the twelfth inning and Reddinghause, Rohe and Justice were the guilty parties to the fate of the I. G. C. Play Genuine Baseball. The Glover-Pianomaker flare was one of the best games nf th spasnn

and featured by some of the speediest baseball seen on a local lot this year.

Both teams played good ball, but the

Lawson following was the first to "rack under the strain. Outstanding feature of the Pianomakers win was the stellar hurling work of Al Goslin. who demonstrated

his ability to come-back. Al pitched one sweet game throughout the long grind. Five swipes was the extent of the Glover stick-work. Ru3s Hawekotte, in the dust heap for the Lawson

contingent, pitched good ball but his support on five different occasions proved wobbly. Starr Sets Pace Early. Starr Piano set the pace at the start and had a margin of two at the beginning of the final. Boots by Fitzgibbons and Knott combined with Hoe Hawekotte's timely rap gave the Glovers two runs and an even break in the count in the ninth frame. In the twelfth Reddinghause started the family row. He singled. Rohe doubled. Miller singled. Thus ended the tale. The score; The score: Starr Piano Co. "

Pennsy crew rolled up a total of four tallies and the game against Lon Slack's Easthaveners out at the Easthaven lot Saturday afternoon. Altogether it was a remarkable finish and served to throw the railroaders Into a fifty-fifty claim with the Glovers for the runner-up position of the S. A. L.
