LIBERTY, Ind., Aug. 2L Liberty suffered fonj : the ; most severe lectrica and wind storm, Saturday night, that it has had for several years. The stprci broke ' about, $ o'clock.: ; The wind that came first did a great deal of damage. Following that there was the electrical storm with its terrific downpour of rain and hail. ' Big maple trees are uprooted and blown down in all parts of town, especially on Union street, where the damage was worst. ' ! ' ' ! Several people have reported tha tbetr chimneys were, blown down and the farmers in the surrounding country say that the corn Is badly damaged. It was almost blown flat by the severe wind. LIGHTNING CAUSES $3,000 BARN FIRE LIBERTY. Ind.. Aug; 21. The barn of Albert Montgomery, three- miles south of Liberty, was struck, by lightnlng during a severe electrical and wind storm, that passed over Liberty about 6 o'clock Saturday evening. ' The barn contained this year's crop of wheat and all the hay crop. 1 The hay being so inflammable the barn burned quickly in spite of the heavy rain. 'Besides the losses of the barn and his crops, Mr. Montgomery lost two valuable horses, that he was unable to get out before the fire gained headway, i One horse was burned to death and the other broke loose and ran out, but was so badly burned that it had to be shot later.
