OLD SETTLERS PLAN PROGRAM FOR THIS YEAR

CEXTERVILLE, Ind.. Aug. 11. The C. W. B. M. Auxiliary met with JJrs. Melissa Jackson last week, ten members and four visitors being present. Devotions were conducted by the president, Mrs. Thomas Jackson. Business meeting followed after which interesting papers were read by Mrs. Jackson and Mrs. Grigsby. Hidden answers conducted by Mrs. Terry was a very interesting item. The next meeting will be with Mrs. Kincald. The Ladies Aid decided to bold a market at Zehring and Scotts shoe store, Saturday, Aug. 12 The Old Settlers committee will have their last meeting Tuesday evening at which time the exact program will be made out. It will appear in the papers next week. , Old Settlers will be held as usual at Maplewood Park, Aug. 19. Tha rumor that there will be a two days celebration is unfounded and the only home coming to be held will be the annual Old Settlers Picnic, Mr. Roser of Greenfield, has accept

Mr. Roser is at present staying with Mr. and Mrs. Artie Robbins, but will move to this place In a few weeks Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Dunbar, Franklin and Martha Howell, motored to Charlottesville Thursday, and spent the day with relatives.. .. .Mrs. Nellie Miner and four children of Richmond, Mrs. Steeler and daughter Madge, of Indianapolis, visited Mrs. Brown and daughter Mode, Tuesday Raymond Bootte of Wichita, Kan., is here for a visit with his parents. He was a victim of a motorcycle accident which resulted in a badly mashed foot.

LIBERTY HOLDS MEMORIAL HOUR TO POET RILEY LIBERTY, Ind., Aug. 11. At a mass meeting of the citizens, called by the members of the Commercial club, it was decided to hold a Memorial service in honor of James Whitcomb Riley, the Hoosier poet, on Sunday evening on the Court house lawn in Liberty. The president of the Commercial club Dr. W. A. Thompson, appointed Prof. Lee O. Snook, Miss Jennie D. Coughlin, Mrs. O. L. Stivers, C. F. Bond and the Rev. J. L. Hartsook as the program committee. This committee has arranged the following program to be given Sunday evening, at six-thirty o'clock: "America" Audience. Invocation. Solo "There, Little Girl Don't Cry" Mrs. Herschell Wray. Address "Riley, the Poet" Rev. C. W. Whitman. Reading "An Old Sweetheart of Mine" Miss Adelaide Gilmore. Recitation "The Raggedy Man," Miss Lorena Lafuze.

NEW PARIS, O., Aug. 11 Edward R. Daugherty is slowly recovering from Injuries received the past week when a heavy mower started on a slight Incline ( and knocked him down and passed over his body.
