BEES DISGUISE HAROLD DANIEL IN HAY FIELD
MILTON', Ind., Aug. 4. Harold Daniel -while mowing away hay, Wednesday struck a bumble bees nest. The consequence was that Harold was , badly stung. Even his best friends do not know him. His face is swollen out of shape and his eyes are almost closed Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Varin, end daughter, Barbara Jane, of India- . napolis, are here to spend Mr. Varin's vacation with Mrs. Varin's aunts, Mrs. Martha Stover and Mlse B. M. Kern. Star Confers Work. The Eastern Star had work Wednesday evening. Degrees were conferred on Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wallace. Those present from Cambridge City were, (Mrs. Goebel, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wheeler, Mesdames Helen Austil, jMollle Dodson, Clara Crocker, P. M. 'Murray, Miss Elizabeth Whelan, also (Mrs. Stella Jenkins McGeath, of Dub'lln Mrs. John A. Hale, and Miss Elva Beavers of New Castle, spent a few days this week with the daughter 'and niece, Mrs. James Philpott and ! family, of Bentonville. Mr. and Mrs. Philpott were also at Muncle Sunday Uo visit relatives over Sunday Miss Tiny Moore had as her guest Wednesday evening, Mrs. Mellie Harvey, of tsouth of town. Club is Entertained. Mrs. Wilbur Elwell entertained the (Embroidery club in a very pleanant manner Wednesday afternoon. A nice company was present, including Mesdames Stanley Murphy of Indianapolis. Prank Barton of Chicago, Charles Frazee of Duluth, Minn., Carroll Merrimman of Fort Wayne, Miss Mebel Bossert of Brookville, Mesdames Geo. ; Wagner, James Murphy, W. C. Squier, end Lycurgus Beeson as special guests. The afternoon was delightfully spent and refreshments were served by the hostess. The next meeting will be kheld with Mrs. J. A.' Brown. I Mrs. Carrie Michael is entertaining Mrs. Elsie O'Neal Wilcox of Moores I Hill. Mrs. Wilcox is a sister of Watson O'Neal of Richmond. Makes Business Trip. Fred Fortman and Willis Owens 'were at Laurel Wednesday on Dustiness. The Infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Clark i Faucett, east of town, is reported sick. . Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Mrriman and iflmllv. who have been the euests of i the Rev. and Mrs. F. C. McCormick iand family, have gone to Hartford City to visit friends. They are en route home to Fort Wayne. An electric fan was placed in the Masonic lodge room Wednesday evening. Visit at Zlonville. Mrs. Lute Lantz is spending a few days at Zlonville, with Mr?. Anna Mason Hlttle and family. Mrs. Elwood Beeson has as her guests at dinner Thursday Mrs. Van Crawford and children, south of town. Mrs. Henry Philpott, of Bentonville, was 77 years old Wednesday. She celebrated with an auto ride in company with her son and wife, Mr. and Mrs. James Philpott, to Connersville. The Rev. F. C. McCormick attended Bethany park assembly this week. He gave a short talk on "Rural Churches and Pastors" and the estimation in which they are held, and the true condition of affairs. TRINITY SUNDAY SCHOOL ELECTS OFFICERS FOR YEAR All the old officers of the Trinity Lutheran Sunday school were re-elected to office at the meeting of the Sunday school teachers Wednesday. It was decided to hold the Sunday school picnic on August 17, at Glen Miller park. Marie Deuker, Ezra Weidner and Otto Kemper constitute the committee on arrangements. The officers who were returned to office last night are Charles Igelman, superintendent; O. A. WOMAN BADLY POISONED WHILE PICKING BERRIES
CAMBRIDGE CITY, Ind.. Aug. 4 Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Hicks and daughters, Helen and Eva Lou, Mr. and Mrs. R, M. Huddleson, and Mr. Fred Huddleson motored to Chesterfield Sunday, and were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. J.. A. Boyd Albert Ogborn moved Monday from the Brooks property on Church street to Milton, where he Is employed with the Doddridge Casket Co The Misses Esta and Emma Filby of Elwood,- were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. John Ohmit, Monday. Vines Poison Woman. While gathering raspberries at her home in Mt. Auburn, Mrs. Myrtle Spencer came in contact with a poison vine, and was badly poisoned about the face and throat Mrs. J. E. Brooks spent Monday in Richmond, the guest of Mrs. Emma Hodskins. Woodward Family Entertains. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Holt of Greenfield, Mr. and Mrs. B. L. Woodard and Mrs. Emma Lanning and family of Greenfield, were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Will Woodard and family of Mt. Auburn, Sunday Roy Fraunberg, Albert Chapman and Omar Williams are among the number in attendance at the races in Detroit. Visitor Leaves. Mrs. Mano Miller, after a visit with her sister, Mrs. John Hicks, has gone to Luther, Mich., to visit her parents. OLD SCHOOL MATES RECALL CHILDHOODS CHESTER, Aug. 4. Miss Bernice Norris, Richmond, spent Sunday with relatives here Mr. John Newman remains about the same. He is still at Reid hospital. .. .Rev. Ulmer and family took supper with Rufus Newman and family, Sunday evening. Many Attend Reunion. The school reunion held here Sun day was well attended. Rev. Ulmer gave the address at the M. E. church in the morning. Dinner was served on the lawn at the school house at noon and after dinner a good program was given. Leters Are Read. Several letters from former pupils who were unable to be here were read followed by speeches from several of the former pupils and teachers. Chester Hurley has purchased a five passenger Dodge automobile Mr. and Mrs. Ora Adams, of Elwood, have been the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Will Pike F. H. Ohmit and Elmer Lebo, of Richmond, left last Tuesday night for an outing at Crooked Lake.
DEMAND MORE PAY GARY, Ind., Aug. ,4. Military guards were placed about the gun cotton factory of the Aetna explosive company today following a strike of 150 Greek laborers, several of whom were arrested for barricading roads leading to the plant. The men, who with their bonuses get $5.40 a day for eight hours, declare they are not getting full benefit for the bonuses. MAY DISCONTINUE QUARANTINE CHICAGO, Aug. 4.
