Mrs. William S. Thomas has returned to Springfield. O., after a visit with Mr. and Mrs. Burton Carr. A meeting of the Woman's Relief Corps was held Thursday afternoon in the Post room. After the business session a centennial program was presented. Interesting articles pertaining to pioneer times was given. Mrs. Thomas sang several songs and Miss Lela Manford played instrumental numbers. Several readings from James Whitcomb Riley were also given. A delicious luncheon was served. The corps meets again next week. Rev. Stanley Hughes of Newport, Rhode Island, will preach Sunday morning at 10:30 o'clock at the St. Paul's Episcopal church. He will also have charge of the communion service at 7:30 o'clock in the morning. A dance will be given Saturday evening at 8 .o'clock at the Country club. The Dbion Saxophone will play. All members and out of town guests are Invited to attend. The usual Saturday evening supper will be served at 6:30 o'clock. The dance will be in charge ofvthe July social committee. A Riley celebration will be held Sunday morning at the South Eighth Street Friends chufch. Miss Fannie Horrell w'ill give several Riley readings. Miss Elizabeth Morris will also read. James E. Beckett and daughter Lola, entertained Wednesday at their country home, northwest of the city. The guests were Mrs. H. B. Massey of Williamsburg, Mrs. Printes Edwards and son, Harlan of West River, Mrs. Martha Yales and granddaughter Hilda of Carlos City. Miss Edna M. Smith, North Eighteenth street, is leaving Saturday morning for Springfield, O., where she will reside. Mr. and, Mrs. Ray Mendenhall are leaving for Washington, Atlantic City and New York. They will also visit with friends while in New York. For many a day society has graced no lovlier affair than the ball at the Hamilton Country club last evening which was given by the Misses Priscilla Keely, Margaret and Caroline Millikin in honor of two charming guests Miss Elizabeth Johnson, of Ur bana, a school friend of Miss Keely, and Miss Caroline Millikin from Hollins College, and Miss Eleanor Seidel of Richmond, Ind., who was Miss Margaret Miliikin's roommate at Washington. The ball room, of the club was decorated and in addition to the guests of- honor there were several friends in the receiving line. Miss Seidel wore a gown of blue taffeta with pink rosebud trimmings. Miss Johnson, a gown of flesh colored net and silver lace. A delicious luncheon was served on the verandas and lawn during an intermission. The Good Time Dancing club will give a dance this evening in the Eagles' Hall. There will be no preaching service at the Reid Memorial church Sunday, morning' or evening. Mr. Paul Feeger leaves tonight for James Lake, Angola, Indiana, where he will spend a week. The picnic of the A. O. N. T. club was held Thursday at the home of Mrs. Chester Burdsall near Chester.
