INDIANA MAN TO HEAD PROHI PARTY TICKET

ST. FAUL, July 21. The prohibition party will bring one of the stormiest conventions in its history to a close today by nominating candidates for, president and vice-president and adopting by far the most "progressive" platform it has yet put before the country. J. Frank Hanly, of Indiana, will in all probability be selected to head the ticket, and his running mate may be any one of. half a dozen men. His nomination, while not certain, will be accomplished on the first ballot, according to his supporters. The withdrawal from all consideration of exGovernor Eugene N. Foss, of Massachusetts, has the Hanlyites said today, given the Hoosier candidate an overwhelming majority of the seven hundred delegates.

WASP SHELLS COAST

BERLIN, July 21. The German admiralty reported today that a German submarine on July 11 shelled the iron works at Seaham on the English coast. From July 10 to "July 14 German submarines have destroyed nine steam trawlers, seven of them British.

VISIT WERNLE HOME

Forty-three members of the Ladies' Aid society of the Lutheran church at West Alexandria, 0Aheld a picnic at Glen Miller park yesterday afternoon and visited the Wernle Orphans' Home. The members gave the inmates of the home an ice cream treat. They complimented Superintendent Specht and his wife for the excellent condition in which they found the home. The Rev. S. Schillinger, pastor of the congregation, was present. The party made the trip in automobiles.
