CEMETERY ORDERED TO PAY INHERITANCE

Judge Fox held today that bequests to cemetery associations organized

merely - for conducting cemeteries shall be taxed under the inheritance tax laws and thereby set a precedent. This ruling was made in the settlement of the estate of William Dicks, deceased. ' A legacy of 1200 was left to the Franklin Cemetery association. The court held that the cemetery association was exempt for the amount

of $100, but that the remaining $100 is taxable at the rate of five per cent CALLS FOR REPORTS.

County Auditor Bowman is sending out letters today to the school corporations of the county informing them that the annual reports of the school corporations are due August. 1.

' The Day Nursery, wnere children who would otherwise be without care during the day are given a place to play and receive the attention of expert kindergarten teachers, reached its highest record last week when 75 children, representing -13 different families, attended. The above picture was taken last week, and shows a group of the youngsters, under the care of Mrs. Pille, matron of the nursery. . This week the attendance has been between 16 and 18 a day, and the total record will probably surpass that of last week. ' The children who attend tho nurs

ery are those whose fathers and mothers are both working. The age limit has been six years, but during the summer this has been raised to ten, to allow the attendance of some children who are uncared for during the vacation. ' The feature of this week for the children of the nursery was an auto ride, which was given them Monday afternoon by Mrs. Henry Goldfinger. Later in the afternoon Mrs. Goldfinger treated the children at a candy store. Other automobiles have been offered and the weekly ride will be one of the most enjoyable features of nursery life.-
