LITERARY SOCIETY DRAWS LARGE CROWD AT SECOND MEETING DODDRIDGE CHAPEL. July 14. The second meeting of the D. L. S. was held Wednesday evening at the home of Mrs. Charliene Burgess. Eighty-five persons enjoyed the program provided by the amusement committee, of which Miss Isabel Green was chairman. After the roll call and rending of the minutes, Forest Caldwell read the first edition of the Fortnightly which he had carefully prepared. The following numbers were them given: v Vocal Solo Everett Gates. Encore Howard Greene. Heading The Baptist Sermon', the Message Mr. Working, of Milton. Playlet" The Speed Limit." Cast: Joseph Ryan, Everett Gates, Howard Oreene, Paul Wright, Everett Clevenger. Coach, Miss Cora Gates. The playlet was all that could be desired in both subject and presentation. Refreshments were served at the close of the evening, and at midnight the guests departed with hearty thanks for Mlos Burgess hospitality and with mutual congratulations among themselves upon the auspicious beginning of the third summer of the club's life. The 'next meeting will be held in a fortnight at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Levi Greene, near Waterloo. "Why aren't you eating, old top?" "I'm on a diet." "What's the trouble? Been 111?" "Had an operation on my alHw wee." ' OUGHT TO BE. Purchaser (cautiously) l thl; land rich. Gentleman Farmer It certainl: ought to be! I have pat all the mone: X had lnt it New Zealand is experiencing a shortage of drugs, some of which have advanced in price 1.000 per cent. Russia is estimated to have more than 4,000,000 acres of land which would produce cotton if irrigated. Use Cocoanut Oil For Washing Hair If you want to keep jour hair in good condition, be careful what you wash it with. Most soaps and prepared shampoos contain too much alkali. This dries the scab, makes the hair brittle, and Is very harmful. Just plain multified cocoanut oil (which is pure and entirely greaseless). is much better than the most expensive soap or anything else you can use for shampooing, as this can't possibly injure the hair. Simply moisten your hair with water and rub it In. One or two teabpoonfuls will make an abundance of rich, creamy lather, and cleanses the hair and salp thoroughly. The lather rinses out ea'sily, and removes every particle of dust, dirt, dandruff and excessive oil. The hair dries quickly and evenly, and ' leaves it fine and filkly, bright, fluffy. and easy to manage. You can get.mulsifled cocoanut oil at most aay drug store, it is very cheap, and a few ounces is enough to IwSt everyone in tie family for months. Adv.
