Yesterday broke all records for attendance at the day nursery, there being fifteen children under Mrs. Pille's care. The attendance has been ranging from thirteen to ' fifteen throughout the week, and Mrs. Pille states that the last few days have been the best in the history of the institution. The fifteen babies and their caretakers were photographed yesterday afternoon. Mrs. E. L. Reynolds, of the Domestic Science Association, urges that the women of the clty save old newspapers and magazines, which will be collected and sold for the benefit of the nursery. The' papers may be stored at the nursery. Mrs. Reynolds announces that the financial report - of the Day Nursery Is not secret, but that the books of the institution are . open to public inspection at any time.
ROAD BROTHERHOODS PRESENT HOUR ISSUE
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind., July 13.The railroad employes' side of the eighthour day controversy will be presented to the people of this city Sunday. The four railroad brotherhoods here will hold a mass meeting Sunday, preceded by a parade through the streets. Speakers will explain the railroad men's views at the meeting. A referendum vote is now being taken here as in other railroad centers in the country.

EATON, O., July 13. Preble county land is worth ?8.12 less per acre than it was one year ago, according to a report compiled by County Auditor Potts for the year ending June 30, 1916. The average price per acre is $77.72. but one year ago was valued
at $S5.S4V . ... i During the year, the report shows, 692 deeds were filed. These conveyed 21,371 acj-es .and involving cash, th&t amounted' to $1,022,986.55. Farm land deeds, other than those for $1 consideration, numbered 179 and conveyed 11,111 acres, for which $863,607.06 was paid.
The report also shows the number of mortgages given exceeded those cancelled. The cancellations numbered 431 and involved $879,365.72, while mortgages given involved $1,234,092.39 and numbered 115 more than cancellations. - Deeds to city, town and village lots, other than for $1 consideration, numbered 191 and involved a total consideration' of $159,376.26.

Mr. and Mrs. Richard Cordell and daughter, Marie, spent Saturday in Richmond. ' Mr. and Mrs. Frank Antrim and sister, Mrs. Mary Miller May visited Mr. and Mrs. Park' Hadley near Wilmington, O., last week. The trip was nnde in Mrs. May's automobile. Mrs. Hadley is critically ill. , ; . The Weeks family reunion will be held at Dayton, O., August. 12.

FIRE DAMAGES CAR.
EATON, O., July 13. An American touring car, owned by R. J. Schied, was slightly damaged by fire early Wednesday morning when the engine back-fired and gasoline in the carburetor ignited. A call was sent to the fire department and the truck made a run to the Schied home, East Main street. Chemicals were used to extinguish the blaze.
WARSAW, Ind., July 13. From Lake Wawasee comes a story that a rattle snake was found in. a bed in the cottage of Mrs. Fred Fondersmith and was killed by cottagers either with a flat iron or ax.
