At least part of the
directors are in favor of black listing the back-sliders for the remainder of the season. As to the game itself. Muncie with the cream of the upstate Saturday circuit, and with a pitcher who had a big shade of the . Richmond slabber, managed to take a majority after a well played game. Goslin Handicapped. Al Goslin, Starr Piano flinger, on the rise for the Quakers, was handicapped through lack of a regular backstop. Mike Knott, kid short stop marvel of the pianomakers, essayed to fill Emmett Hass' kicks and though the youngster did some remarkable work considering the circumstances, really didn't allow Goslin to extend everything he had on the ball. t Chet Longfellow, the premier hurler of the Muncie S. A. L., pitched a clever game for the visitors. Richmond batters never were allowed to get familiar with the ball. He held Richmond to five hits, two of them of the scratch variety. FOB FULL TEN ROUNDS
REXALLS LOSE GAME TO LEWISBURG NINE
The truck load of noise, baseball paraphernalia and Rexall suits which left the city for Lewisburg, O., yesterday morning in Fourth of July manner, returned to Richmond last night with little of the celebration spirit The Lewisburg club trimmed tfc locals in both the morning and aiternoon games. In the morning game Scbepman and Holmes were not good enough, and Lewisburg copped, lo to 9. In the afternoon Clarke for Richmond was shaded by Hammond of the Buckeyes. Next Sunday the Rexalls invade Portland, Ind.
SIGNS HERBIE LOGAN
Andy Delmont, a local comer, surprised his many Richmond backers yesterday when in his bout with Jimmy Dalton, of Indianapolis, at Greenville, O., he went the full route of ten scheduled rounds and managed to break fifty-fifty with his more experienced and slightly huskier Hoosier combatant. Dalton was a bear on long range fighting and managed to get in solid pokes from the shoulder now and then. Delmont took the conservative route and worried Dalton with boring infighting tactics.
BONO FATTENS BOY FOR ARMY SERVICE
HAGERSTOWN, Ind.. July 5. B. Lichenstadt, manager of the Hagerstown Hub team, announces that he has signed Herb Logan and Cy Wallace, short stop and pitcher respectively, of the Richmond club.
MOOSE PLAN PROGRAM
The Loyal Order o! Moose is laying plans for an entertainment to be given within the next month. Possibly a hypnotist will present a performance.
"I'm fattening them, stretching them and providing medical attention to make young men eligible for the army, but I sure am getting them," said Sergeant Bond at the local recruiting station. One young man who wishes his name withheld joined the cavalry service yesterday. This makes the third recruit who has been sent from tfie local station during the first four days of July. "I've got another one about fattened up who will be up some time today to get weighed," said the Sergeant. "He's just about all right to go."
