RAIN IN NORTHWEST STRENGTHENS WHEAT
CHICAGO, June 29. Rains In the northwest added a little strength to the wheat market today, and the opening was at prlcea fractionally higher than last night's close. July opened at $1.00, September at $1.04. , Corn opened steady, but developed strength soon after and gained around c in July was registered on early sales. July opened at 74 c, September at 73 U. Tbere was considerable liquidation tn July oats. Wheat closed at the highest prices of the day under continued buying of shorts who absorbed the offerings as they came out. Closing showed advances of c to lc. Corn was up Me tot, while oats were irregular nd unsettled, the nearby futures losing Me to c, while the deferred were Me higher. Outside of the big buying of shots, the elevator concerns took july and sold September around a difference of 3c. Cash sales were 15,000 bushels of wheat, 335,000 bushels of corn and 270,000 bushels of oats.

MEXICO CITY. (Via El Paso) June 29 In reply to Chief Executive Carrranza's request for a full report on the Carrizal battle, General Jacinto B. Trecino has transmitted from Chihuahua a statement which he says was sworn to by Lemuel H. Spisbury, the civilian interpreter, who accompanied the American forces to Carrizal. ' In this statement which was made public today, Spilsbury holds the American soldiers responsible for the conflict; that General Gomez, the Mexican commander, was courteous in his warnings to the Tenth cavalryand that Captain Charles T. Boyd thought the Mexicans were bluffing.
