HAGERSTOWN, Ind., June 24 j The nineteenth annual banquet of the Woman's History club was held with Mrs. A. E. Thurston and Mrs. Laura Gebhart at the Thurston home Tuesday afternoon. The rooms were decor- ! atcd with wild flowers and bouquets ' vtn 08. peonies, nasturtum, blue French pinks and ferns. The meeting was opened by music on the Victrola. A solo was sung by Mlse Blanche Boyd of Cambridge City. The, president, Mrs. Thurston, welcomed the members and guests, after which the roll was called, all members responding with hurnoroii3 celoctlons. Rev. Ballard and family, Mr. and Mrs. John Taylor, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Greenstreet and their company, Mrs. Doremus and Mrs. Williamson of New Jersey Dr. Loop and family have been entertaining company in honor of Mrs. Loop's sister. Miss Nora Young, a teacher in the public schools at Lebanon. Those recently entertained are Mr. and Mrs. Frank Greenstreet, Mr. and Mrs. Link Morrison, Mr. and Mrs. George Ballenger, Mrs. Martha Atkinson, Misses Ruby Morrison, Belle Conley, Juanlta Atkinson, Mrs. Tillie Clark of here, Mr. James Schelito of Pittsburg, Mrs. John Doremus and Mrs. Williamson of New Jersey Rozzie Charles who has been suffering with Brlght's disease, is much better Mr. and Mrs. Tim Feirce of i Hagerstown, are visiting J. year's work was read by the secretary, Mrs. Hower, after which nine of the club ladles gave a play, entitled "Sewing for the Heathen." Miss Boyd gave two more vocal selections, after which all were invited to find their places at the tables. The place cards were decorated with violets, the club color being violet and white. Everything served except the sugar and coffee were Indiana products. Nineteen active members, one honary member and eleven guests were present. The guests were: Mrs. Laura Carroll of Willmlngton, O., Mrs. Clark Wissler of New York City, Mrs. Samuel Siersdorfer, Muskegon, Mich., Mrs. Marys Bradford, Los Angeles. Cal., Mrs. Frank Mason, Mrs. Robert Thurston, Mrs. F. A. Kellum, Mrs. Frank Tector, Miss Annie Dilling, Miss Blanche Boyd, Cambridge City, and Miss Esther Porter. Ward and daughter, Ethel, of near Spiceland, Mr. and Mrs. Exum Copeland and children .Harry Flood and William Newcomb Mrs. Scott Horner of Witchita, Kan., Mrs. Jennie Gray and Miss Jeanett Gray of Dublin were guests Monday of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Knapp. REFUGEES OF MEXICO FILL FIVE COACHES VERA CRUZ, June 24. Five firstclass coaches of Americans arrived here last night. They will go aboard the battleship Nebraska tomorrow and afterward will be transferred to a transport. A special coach also arrived with the American employes of the Aguila Oil Company. The refugees report that their trip down was uneventful. James Rodgers, the United States diplomatic representative at Mexico City, will arrive here tomorrow with special trains bringing refugees from Real Del Monte and Pachuca in twelve box cars. Acording to the arrivals from the capital, the general belief in Mexico City is that the trouble between the United States and Mexico finally will be settled by arbitration.
