-"TJW VUZ A FINE PARTY OF MRS OLE AN DERM LONGMAN EMPLOYS LAWYER TO RESIST RELEASE BY BOARD Not only has Officer William Longman, of the night police force, refused to act upon the request of the police board that he turn in his resignation 1 but he also intends putting up a fight to prevent being ousted from the department. Longman has employed an attorney to represent him when his case Is given a hearing by the police board at its next regular meeting, the first Friday evening In July. In the meantime the police board has suspended Longman without pay pending a decision at the next board meeting as to whether he will be discharged or retained on the force. : The most serious charge which has ' been preferred against Longman is his . arrest for driving his automobile without a license, which constitutes a violation of the state law. "I do not regard Longman a satisfactory officer," said Chief Goodwin today. "His services have not been up to standard for some time. On his beat in the east end he has frequently spent too much time every evening loafing in a garage. He h- been negligent m making his reports and he caused trouble at the time Officer Fee was appointed a traffic officer. Longman wanted that appointment and when Fee was selected he appealed my action to the police hoard." SPEECHES OF MOSES ISE FOR STUOY The outline for the ne?:t lesson in the Rev. L. E. Murray's Bible study class follows: A book of review. 1. Review of journeyings, 1-4. 2. Review of laws, 5-26. Notice. (a) Warning against apostasy, 7. (b) A familiar N. T. quotation in 8. (e) One place of sacrifice. Why? 12. (d) Release of bond servants, 15. (e) Concerning kings, 17. (f) Black art and true prophet, 18. 3. Forecast and admonition, 27-30. 4. Final words of Moses. 31-33. (a) Charge to Joshua, 31. (b) National song, 32. (c) Blessing, 33. 5. Death and burial of Moses, 34. Note The style is hortatory, didatic rather than narrative. The book consists of the final address of Moses. Five keywords of the five books studled are election, redemption, consecration, organization and exhortation. Simpson, a Hindu missionary has sued Johnson for $2,000 damages. Success has followed forest planting on the sand hills of Nebraska. Jack pines planted there by the government forest service ten years ago now have a hight of fifteen feet and a diameter of four inches. Forethought. People are learning that a little forethought often saves them a big expense. Here is an instance: E. W. Archer, Caldwell, Ohio, writes: "I do not believe that our family has been without Chamberlain's Colic, Cholera and Diarrhoea Remedy sinee we commenced keeping house years ago. When we go on an extended visit we j take it with us." Obtainable everywhere." Adv.
