BROWN VISITS DODGE PLANT Sherman Brown, manager of the Dodge salesroom, has been spending the greater part of this week In Detroit studying in the Dodge Motor Car factory. He has been studying the Dodge cars while under construction so that he can better explain them to customers. He will return to Richmond today with three new cars, two five passenger cars and one roadster. Mr. Brown and his assistants will drive the cars through. These cars have all been spoken for. AUTO FACTORIES FORM DEFENSE "In its campaign of preparation for war, this nation will find that one of its greatest assets lies in its motor car factories," is the statement of Earl Spangler, agent for the Haynes Automobile company. "Tbe automobile plants on short notice can work in at once on any plan of industrial preparedness. The time that it would take an automobile plant, engaged in the manufacture of pleasure cars, to transform its output for war production would be comparatively short. With co-operation now on tbe part of the Department of War, there is no good reason why the change could not be accomplished as quickly and efficiently as in the cases of many German factories at the outbreak of the European war." DELAYS DELIVERY OF NEW MACHINES A tie-up at the Connersville factory, because cf the inability to get the raw materials,-has delayed the shipment of several Lexingtons to the Quaker City garage. GETS 21 MILES OUT OF GALLON
An arerage of twenty-one miles on a gallon of gasoline is tbe record established by Bert Chenoweth. while learning to drive his new Oakland car, which he purchased of the Scanty & Brown company. Mr. Chenoweth hopes to better hi record when he becomes a little better acquainted with his car. . "It seems reasonable." said John 6. Brown, in speaking of the record, "that the small bore of the - 2 13-16 inches of the cylinders of the Oakland Light Six would consume a small amount of gasoline. r "A high-power rifle with small bore and great range uses less explosive j ammunition that the old type of rifles1 with large bore. Price
Do the great variety of Sixes and the fluctuating prices seem confusing and perplexing? Let's reason it out. What controls price ? Production. As a manufacturer's production increases, his production cost, per car, decreases. Therefore the plant with the largest production is in a position to give more of everything and charge less for it. We are the world's largest producers of Six and Four Cylinder Automobiles. Consequently you get in the Overland Six a larger and more powerful motor a longer wheelbase the convenience of electric control buttons on the steering column and an almost endless list of other comforts and refinements. yet what is the price ? Not $1200 or $1300 but $1145. And when it comes to a Six Cylinder performance, remember the Overland Six is the star of them all. . One ride will convince you.
