As a courtesy - to Miss Marguerite Dean, who will be ' married soon to Mr. Raymond Myrick, Miss Florence Bond gave the first of a series of social functions today when she entertained with a luncheon at her home, North Tenth street. Clusters of pink and white sweet peas were used in appointing the table. A delicious lueheon in several cources was served. Places were arranged at the table for Miss Marguerite Doan, Mrs. Miriam McDivitt, Miss Ruth Kelsey, Mrs. Charles S. Bond, Miss Ruth Peltz, Mrs. Roy Porter, Miss Gertrude Bartel, Mrs. Clara Graves, Miss Florence Bond and Mrs. Layton Myrick. This afternoon a miscellaneous shower was given for the bride-elect. She was the recipient of a number of gifts. . - ; A pleasant surprise was given Miss Rosie Karcher by her friends. The guests brought well-filled baskets. Three birthday cakes were presented to the hostess. The cakes were placed on the tables and surrounded with candles. A dinrier in several courses was served. Miss Marie Karcher won the honor in the croquet game. the ceremony was performed by the Rev, Father Roell. Professor Richter was at the organ and played suitable music for the occasion. Mr. Ray Geier and Mr. Joseph Wessell sang several bridal songs previous to the entrance of the party. The Lohengrin v. Wedding March was played as the young people came down the aisle. Miss Mary Pfeiffer was maid of honor and wore a gown of yellow crepe de chene, and her flowers were an arm bouquet of Othelia roses. Mr. Henry Zeyen was best man. Miss Rosella Toschlog was bride's maid and wore a gown of blue crepe de chene and her flowers were an arm bouquet of
roses. Mr. Will Knauber entered with the bride's maid. Master George Pfeiffer was ring bearer and carried the rings in a white calla lily. He was dressed in white. The ushers were Messrs. Henry Knauber and Walter Geier. After the ceremony, a wedding breakfast was served at the home of the bride's aunts, the Misses Ahaus, 301 South Ninth street. Only members of the immediate families were served, the guests numbering thirtyone. Roses with wedding bells and mock orange blossoms formed the decoration. Mr. and Mrs. Pfeiffer left for a wedding trip. The bride traveled in a tan suit with hat to match. Upon their return thev will be at home at 242 South West Fourth street. -Social No. '9, 'Pythian i Sisters, will meetFriday afternoon, in the Pythian temple and luncheon will be served. The Dorcas society of the Earlham Heights Presbyterian church was entertained yesterday afternoon by Mrs. Aaron Wogaman. Miss Elizabeth Hasemeier presented her intermediate pupils in recital Wednesday afternoon at the Art Gallery. Master Paul Swain a pupil of Mr. Fred Hicks gave a violin number and Miss Esther Coate played the accompaniment. Those who appeared were Miss Augusta Gennett, Miss Virginia Harris, Master Robert Klute, Alice Lemon. Mary Frances Churchell. Ruth Harrington, Ruth Hasemeier and India Stanford. This evening the advanced pupils of Miss Hasemeier appeare assisted by Miss Marguerite Hasemeier, violinist, and Mr. Fred J. Bartel, vocalist. The public is Invited. This affair will be held in the high school auditorium.

Miss Rhea' Bulla, was a guest last evening when Mis Mary Bulla entertained members of the A. N. C club. In two .weeks the club meets with Miss Marion Russell. The Current Events club met Wednesday afternoon with Mrs. Oscar Oscar Green. TMter the program there was a social hour. 'Refreshments were served. In the absence of the president, Mrs. U. B. G. Ewlng. who Is UL Mrs. H. C. Harman presided at the meeting of the Woman's Foreign Missionary society of First M. E. church held at the home of Mrs. L. E. Turner, Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Harriet Nardin Lutz of Indianapolis, is spending, a day or two in Springfield. Mrs. Lutz is engaged in teaching dramatic art and doing special work In Indianapolis. Springfield Sun. Mrs. Lutz is a former resident of this city. Mrs. Joseph Campbell of Bryan, Ohio, arrived this morning to visit Miss Ruth Pennell. This afternoon Miss Pennell entertained members of her auction-bridge club at the Country club for Mrs. Campbell.

Nicholson and Mary Clements gave the first, of a series of parties arranged for the month. Garden flowers were used in decorating the rooms. - Cards were played at nine tables. After the business session there was a social hour and refreshments. Mr. and Mrs. George Moelk entertained a number of friends Monday evening at their home on North Sixteenth street in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Felss of Flint Mich., and Mrs. Muhl of Los Angeles. Cards were the feature of the evening. Favors were given those making the highest scores.
