Smiling Indifference has characterized in the court room, Dr. Warren Waite, the surgeon-denttst, now 1M trial in New York for the murder of his wife's parents. This picture shows the half smile and half sneer that has marked his face since the opening of the trial, through the selection of the jury, and the taking of testimony cf the first witness for the state.
Gil Anderson Thrills Speeaway Rail Birds
INDIANAPOLIS, May 26. The first fcear-accldent in practice at the Speedway in preparation for the May 30th 300-miie race was staged by Gil Anderson in his initial trial spin in his new Premier car. Anderson brought his new mount to the track and the first time around reeled off better than eighty miles an hour, which is the qualifying time. He did about ten laps, then skidded in oil on the bricks tnd proceeded to electrify the crowd cf spectators by turning completely around three times, jamming his rear wheel hub against the cement retaining wall, then righting his car and proceeding on his way with apparent unconcern. His. car was not damaged, and although the motor was new and "stiff" he proclaimed absolute satisfaction. It is said the new Premier race cars have been built from the ground up quicker than any other race car in automobile rat ing history. With Anderson are his old team mates, Tom Rooney and Earl hooper.' Anderson won the big speedway race at New York last year. Practically All on the Job. Practically all of the entrants in the May 30tli speedway event are now on the job in strenuous workout. The three Frontenacs are the object of a great deal of interest They weigh only about 1.500 pounds each, and are ?ald to be entirely made by the three Chevrolet brothers, Louis, Gaston and

Arthur. It is no trick for them to unravel about ninety miles an hour. The foreign built cars are being worked harder than any other. This includes three Adages, four Peugetota two Sunbeams, and the Pusun, which is a Peugeot chassis with a Sunbeam motor. The military guards who have the task of policing the grounds have opened camp making the speedway look like a summer training camp with their tents and night camp fires. Offer Ten Per Cent cf Profits. The speedway management has made an offer to Governor Ralston, of Indiana, of ten per cent of the net profits of this year's race as a contribution towards the state-wide effort for park system. Men who own and operate the speedway, c. G. Fisher, A. C. Newby, F. H. Wheeler and J. A. Allison, are known for their public spirit and philanthrophy. Fisher is the father of the Lincoln Highway idea and a moving factor in most of the nation-wide good roads movement Their daring to conceive and build the famous Indianapolis motor speedway is proof of their progressiveness. WOODMEN TAKE IN 19 MEMBERS CENTER VTLLE, Ind., May 26. One of the biggest events in the history of the Woodman's lodge since its organization here, occurred last evening when 19 candidates applied for admi6ion. A visiting team from Richmond assisted in receiving them, and at a late hour, they were invited to partake of an abundance of good' things. An unusual feature of the banquet was the extreme hates with which all were compelled to eat, owing to the fact that it was nearing the midnight hour,' when the electricitv is turned off. However table manI ners were dispensed with, and not a member went home with a feeling of hunger. Those who were received were: Orvill Richardson, Pearl Thalls, William Crouch,. Frank DJshman, John Moult-on, Bert Gallinger, Joe Zea, Marion Weiser, Raymond Bertsch, Jesse Mathews, Chester Wilson, Maurice Druly, Robert Fluke, Ralph Fluke. William Welfer, Oscar Sullivan, Ralph McMinn, Robert O'Melia and Walter Terry. HOLD PICNIC IN GLEN Glen Miller park will be the picnic grounds on Sunday, June 11, for all persons who have purchased cars from the Stanley Automobile company of New Castle. This will include many people and will be one of the largest picnics which will be held at the park this year. An extensive program is being planned by the entertaining automobile company for the amusement of the picnickers. , ELECT SUPERINTENDENT. HAGERSTOWN, Ind.. May 26. The school board has elected Warren F. Collins of Bloomington, to be superintendent of the local schools for the MW& HOT WAT El W YOEJ DESIRE A.. MOST COMPLEMOM Says wo can't help but look better and feel better after an inside bath. To look one's best and feel one's best is to enjoy an inside bath each morning to flush from the system the previous day's waste, sour fermations and poisonous toxins before it is absorbed into the blood. Just as coal, when it burns, leaves behind a certain amount of incombustible material in form of ashes, so the food and drink taken each day leave in the alimentary organs a certain amount of indigestable material, which if not eliminated, form toxins and poisons which are then sucked into the blood through the very ducts which are intneded to suck in only nourishment to sustain the body. If you want to see the glow of healthy bloom in your cheeks, to see your skin get clearer and clearer, you are told to drink every morning upon arising, a glass of hot water with a teaspoonful of limestone phosphate in it, which is harmless means of wash ing the waste material and toxins from the stomach, liver, kidneys and bo-els, thus cleansing, sweetening and purifying the entire alimentary tract, before putting more food into the stomach. Men and w.omen with sallow skins, liver spots, pimples or pallid complexion, also those who wake-up with a coated tongue, bad taste, nasty breath, others who are bothered with headaches, bilious spells, acid stomach or Constipation should begin this phosphate hot water drinking and are assured of very pronounced results in one or two weeks. Quarter pound of limestone phosphate costs very little at the drug store but it is sufficient to demonstrate that just as soap and hot water cleanses, purifies and freshens the skin on the outside, so hot water and limestone phosphate act on the inside organs. We must always consider that internal sanitation is vastly more important that outside cleanliness, because the skin pores do not absorb impurities Into the blood, while the bowel pores do. 3 "Homes That are Different" 18th and Main
