Officials today admitted that they were, troubled over this latest movement fathered by General Previno. They can see little reason for this show of strength as the earlier reports stated that only 10,000 troops were being uaed in the present morement. And in Tiew.of the fact that the United States troops available in the section are far less in number some officials were Inclined to believe that Cimizi was distributing his forces to back un another demand that American soldiers be withdrawn from Mexico.

UlLSOfHWJTS MARSHALL FOR HIS RUNNING MATE
WASHINGTON, May 23. Efforts to create "atmosphere" in the Democratic national convention by staging a contest for the vice presidential nomination Are doomed to failure, although friends of certain western possibilities are loudly shouting their availability, tt was learned today that President Wilson will stand squarely behind Vice President Thomas R. Marshall. There are two United States senators to .be elected from Indiana this year, and' the president Is fully convinced, it is learned, that the presence of Mr. Marshall on the national ticket
will be most essential for party success there. It is expected that be will write a letter before the convention meets, in which he will express the hope that the vice president again be bis running mate. Meanwhile, the prospects of the liquor question being injected into the deliberations of both the Republican and Democratic national conventions loomed up today. High chiefs of the anti-saloon leaeue and other organiza
tions favoring the abolishment of 8 j
loons, plan to go to cnicago very eany to appear before the republican platform committee.
ISLEY URGES COMBINING MORNING CHURCH HOURS
Rev. C. Raymond Isley suggested that the morning church services and Sunday school services might be combined and the whole session made shorter, at the morning session of the fourteenth annual Indianapolis conference of the Olive Branch Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran church being held in the Second English Lutheran church. The Rev. Mr. Isley said that this might solve the problem of getting people out for the morning church service, especially the children. They come to Sunday school and then leave often because they say that the two sessions are too long. This objection would be overcome by making the united session shorter than the combined time of the two. The Sunday school is good but it is not sufficient, said the Rev. Mr. Isley. There are seventeen persons in at
tendance as delegates at the con ference.
The conference opened last night with a men's banquet. President L. W. Sifferd acted as toastmaster. He called on Ed Hasemeier, John Holiday, Everard Knollenberg and Rev. Conrad Huber. These men spoke on the general subject, "Elements of an Efficient Layman." Officers were elected at the business session this morning. L. W. Sifferd, Indianapolis, was re-elected president; M. L. Smith, Cicero, vicepresident; C. A. Robertson, Elwood, secretary-treasurer. Services started this morning at 9 o'clock with devotional exercises conducted by C. A. Robertson. At 10 o'clock J. F. Fleger spoke on the "Church and the Ministry." Rev. Qonrad Huber gave a report of the meeting of the Home Mission and Church Council which he attended.
