TWO MEN RESCUED

SAN ANTONIO, Tex., May 18. Official confirmation was received here today that Jessie Deemer and Monrie Payne the two Americans carried off by the Mexican bandits, who raided Big Bend, have been rescued. The rescue was made at El Pino by United States troops under Major Langhorn on Tuesday morning. Major Langhorn in making his report to Major general Funston stated that he expected to be in contact with

the bandit gang today in the region of

El Pino (El Pino is in Mexico about 150 miles south of Marathon). Deemer and Payne were saved without firing a shot. The bandits who were fleeing in two wagons, left the

Americans behind.

The Indiana political correspondent

of the Cincinnati Commercial Tribune sees a ' Republican landslide in the

Sixth Indiana congressional district next November. He even find6 signs dicating a Republican victory in Franklin county, which for years has been a Democratic Gibralter. "Judge Daniel W. Comstock of Richmond,Republican congressional nominee, is held in high favor as a man of superior fitness for the office," reads the article in the Commercial Tribune, under a Brookville date line, "and it already is admitted that he will poll far more than his party's vote in Franklin county. Voters are Disgusted. It is further stated that the voters of Franklin county are thoroughly disgusted with the actions of the present Democratic congressman, Finly H. Gray. "Every move that Gray has made has tended to alienate support in Franklin county, and the prediction is freely made by Democrats as well as Republicans that the Connersville

statesman will suffer a decided slump in the coming contest," the article reads. It then adds: "The novelty of a Democratic congressman in the "Old Sixth" District, which had sent to Washington year after year1 some of the ablest Repub

licans in the state men who made their mark as statesmen and held a high place in the nation's legislative affairs appealed to the Democrats for a time, but as Gray never seemed to get anywhere and the pride of . the district began to be lowered by his peculiar utterances and the stand he

took on many public questions of great importance, the glamor disappeared, and the average voter speedily reach

ed the conclusion, that if they had to be inflicted with Gray the balance of

their days the only alternative is to vote for a Republican and thus eliminate him for all time. "To make a long story short, Finly

seems to be marked for the slaughter, and Franklin county will be in at "the killinV "In the reorganization of the Republican County, Central committee I. M. Bridseman, who did such yeoman service in the last campaign, was re-elected chairman, and Emmet Ferris was chosen secretary. With a committee made up of the livest wires in the county and officered by such leaders as Bridgman and Ferris the Republicans feel a good start has been made for the 1916-campaign. r "StalWart opposition has made the

best fighters In the world out of the Franklin county Republicans, and in every campaign, in storm and shine, they go forth to battle just as though'

victory was tne sure result of their labors."

BETTER THAN CALOMEL

Thousands Have Discovered Dr. Edwards Olive Tablets are a Harmless Substitute -Dr. Edwards' Olive Tablets the substi

tute for calomel are a mild but sure laxative, and their effect on the liver is almost

instantaneous. They are tne result oi ut. Edwards determination not to treat liver and bowel complaints with calomel. His efforts to banish it brought out these little olive-colored tablets. These pleasant little tablets do the good that calomel does but have no bad after effects. They don't injure the teeth like strong liquids or calomel. They take hold of the trouble and quickly correct it. Why cure the liver at the expense of the teeth? Calomel sometimes plays havoc with the gums. So do strong liquids. It is best not to take calomel, but to let Dr. Edwards' Olive Tablets take its place. Most headaches, "dullness" and that lazy feeling come from constipation and a disordered liver. Take Dr. Edwards Olive Tablets when you feelMloggy"and',heavy." Note bow they "clear" clouded brain and how they "perk up" the spirits. At 10c and 25c per box. All druggists. VEGETABLE CALOMEL

Vegetable calomel, extract of the root of the old-fashioned may-apple plant, does not salivate. As a fiver stimulator, it's great. It's a perfect substitute for ordinary calomel (mercury); in fact, it's better, because its action is gentle instead of severe and irritating and it leaves no mean, disagreeable aftereffects. Physicians recognize this and prescribe may-apple root (podophyllin, they call it) daily. Combined with four other standard, all-vegetable remedies, mayapple root may now be had at most any druggist's in convenient sugarcoated tablet form by asking for Scntanel Laxatives. If you forget the name, ask for the box that has thepicture of the soldier on it. These tablets are small, easy to take and are really wonderful littleperformerg. They quickly clean out the poisons that are causing you headache, constipation, sour stomach, biliousness, dizzy spells, bad breath and coated tongue. . They are mild. They never gripe. And they are a bowel tonic as well as a cleanser and liver regulator. A 10c box should last one several weeks.
