Israel Sees the Light The outrages inflicted upon the Jews in Galicia and Poland has served as a call to arms. Jews in the United States believe the time is ripe for an organization that will give expression to the aspirations of the race, direct its destiny, give publicity to its accomplishments and be able quickly to mobilize financial aid for the oppressed and unfortunate. , A congress of Jews has been called to meet in Washington in December. Jewish leaders in all fields of endeavor and enterprise have promised to attend. The congress will devote no time to a resurrection of the Zionism movement, which proposed the settlement of Palestine by Jews, but will take up the greater problem of welding the scattered units of the race into a working organization. No race has endured such shameless persecu

tions, suffered, so many insults and abuses,-and yet accomplished so much as have the Jews. Their ability is recognized in all walks of life. You find them as leaders in the sciences,, in-art, in commercial, mercantile and ; financial enterprises. The gathering of social workers at Indianapolis this week reveals the prominent and efficient work they have accomplished to solve the charity and correctional problems of their people. Jew

ish societies for relief have been administered with an economy and honesty of purpose that astounds the Gentiles. A concentration of Jewish endeavor, making itself felt through a national or an international organization, will dispel the antagonism that is felt against the race, and put Israel where it belongs a powerful influence for good.

Bryan's Peace Manifesto William Jennings Bryan is planning a peace manifesto to which the signatures of 1,000 prominent business and professional men will be attached. The document is to be published just prior to the two national conventions. Nearly every paper you pick up these days has some kind of reducing exercise for women, or some beauty hints by motion picture actresses. Men don't need such advice, about as good a reducing exercise as any man could want is to pay a grocery bill or buy some clothes for his wife. By the time he gets the money for this, he hasn't any spare time left to worry about his looks.

But if they don't like it why don't they have a clean-up week like Richmond did and then there would not be "a speck of dirt' in the entire town."

But say, what are the Richmond boys going to do for tin cans to tie tc dogs' tails? The clean-up inspectors say that not a can is left in Richmond.

IF A MANUFACTURER in his advertising tells you(truthfully,as he believes) that he has the "best tasting1 cigarette in the world" and you believe him, you c probably try his cigarette. It may be a very good cigarette. But his cver-enthusiasm has led you to expect something almost impossible. You light that cigarette and ! Well, there's a good chance that you're disappointed. It may not be the fault of the cigarette. The cigarette may be mighty good. But you ve been led to expect too much. You've been "over-sold. ; And besides, tastes differ-. who can tell what cigarette will best please your taste before you try it? H That's why we leave the taste of Fatimas entirely up to you. True Secret of Keeping Youthful Looking

(The Beauty Seeker.) "The real secret of keeping young-looking and beautiful," says a well-known hygienist, "is to keep the liver and bowela normally active. Without these requisites, poisonous waste products remain in the system, polluting the blood and lodging in various organs, tissues, joints. One becomes flabby, obese, nervous, mentally sluggish, dull-eyed, wrinkled and sallow of face. "But to get liver and bowela working as they ought, without producing evil after-effects has been the problem. Fortunately there is a prescription of unquestioned merit, which may now be had in convenient tablet form. Its value is due largely to an ingredient derived from the humble May apple, or its root, . which has been called 'vegetable calomel' be cause of its effectiveness though, of course, it is not to be classed with the real calomel of mercurial origin. There is no habit-forming constituent in 'sentanel' tablets that's the name and their use is not followed by weakness or exhaustion. On the contrary, these harmless vegetable tablets tend to impart tone and elasticity to the relaxed intestinal wall.
