WHITEWATER PUPILS TAKE HONORS FOR SCHOLARSHIP

WHITEWATER, Ind.. May 2 The local schools closed last , Wednesday. Patrons and friends of the school gathered from all parts of the township, bringing large baskets filled with every kind of delicious and wholesome food which was served promptly at 12 o'clock to the three hundred guests. In the afternoon an , interesting; program was given by the entire school.' Included In this program were the class day exercises given by the five seniors of the high school. Some, special features of the program were: a piano solo by Hazel Hinshaw; the class oration by Maryam Woods;

"Last Will and Testament of the Senior Class" by Glenn Sourbeer: and the "Class Poem" written by Claude Sourbeer. Remarks concerning the work of

Superintendent Rancy have taken first place of all non-commissioned schools' in point of scholarship and high grade work. In the high school, Maryam Woods, a senior, received a perfect grade. In the sophomore class.' Louella Pogue took the highest place In the county for her class. In the first year Maurice Hinshaw received the highest grade of anybody in his class in the county. .The school has purchased a new $75 Victrola, won a new picture machine in the Palladium contest and made other additions. ; ; -- ..;. The entire-teaching staff has been retained for another year.

CLOUDY DAYS STAY

Although the weather was unsettled and cloudy the first part of last week, there was little rainfall, .44 of an an inch, according to the weekly report of the weather observer. The last two days of the -week were clear but all others were cloud:. Saturday the thermometer registered quite a raise in temperature 72 degrees was the highest notch reached while 65 was highest notch reached on Friday. The coldest weather of the week, 42 degrees, was registered on Tuesday and Wednesday.
