MILLS QUITS
- f Continued From Page One hers and it was through his initiative that a deal was recently closed for the purchase of the local property of the M. Rumely company, one of the most Important realty transactions in this city in many years. Mr. Mills today refused to either confirm or deny the report of his resignation. "You can hear anything you want to," he. replied when questioned as to the authenticity of the report. Later an investigation resulted in
'tLe confirmation of the report No reason is assigned for Mr. Mills' action. It is reported that he was not satisfied, with the arrangements made for financing the Rumely deal after tbe option had been secured on the property. It had been generally understood that a part of this property ) was to have been taken over, by the casket company of which Mr," Mills is president. However, that company failed to secure any or the Rumely plant buildings. . . . . . . 1 1 1 . . I St '

Memorial hospital, his pet benevolence, yesterday, which incidentally, Rich
mond people look upon as the city's greatest asset, and made an inspection of the , institution in company with John It. Rupe; president of the board
of trustees. Whether Mr. Reid learned
yesterday Just how badly needed is an addition to the hospital can not be ascertained. He is greatly pleased over the liberal, patronage the. institution has been receiving, and the fact, that it is now self-supporting.: i ' Mr. and. Mrs. Reid. left today for French Lick Springs, Ind. . ::i
