DAVIS ADJUSTS DEAL WITH LOCAL DANK
Having ' effected a ' settlement, through the assistance of friends, with a' local bank, which "had caused him to, be taken into custody by the police, yesterday ; afternoon, pending charges of uttering forged notes have been dismissed and M. R, Davis, residing at North Twenty-third and E streets, has been released. It Is ? stated by the police that Davis secured several hundred dollars from a local bank by putting up as collateral security notes purporting to be made out in favor of the-M.Rumely company and endorsed over to him by the Rumely company. It is alleged that Davis forged these notes. It is stated that the bank officials agreed not to prosecute if Davis made a settlement,, which, he succeeded in doing.
MOOSE GIVE DEGREE.
Moose lodge initiated sixteen candidates that have recently been elected to membership last night. Not all the newly elected candidates were able to take the work last night but will do so in the near future, Howard Brooks said this morning.
