SERVICE IS PROOF . OF TRUEST FAITH 111 WORLD'S SAVIOR "Not by emotion, ceremonies, profession of - association do men know that they are friends of Christ," said Rev. U. 8. X Bridge at the Passion week services of the Grace M. E. church last night. . : "Service and sacrifice are the proofs of that fact It is His will that men live right help their fellow men and extend the kingdom of God. If they are doing this they know that they are Christ's friends. - "The specific sacrifice the living sacrifice- is normal in a friend of Christ." The Rev. Mr. Bridge told of Christ's experience, on Wednesday of Passion week. This waa a day of retirement There is - nospecific record of that day but it is generally believed that Christ spent the day alone with Mary, Martha and Lazarus. He was resting after Tuesday and preparing for the remainder of the week. - In the pres ence of such friends as these, Christ ' cduld thoroughly relax - because? they understood him thoroughly." ...V.., "Christ was benefited by their companionship f and they "by HIs. True friends help each other. By keeping Christ in their, home, His friends ran a risk, of 'being punished for shielding a person' that the law was after. True friends will endure hardships for each 'Other . v. "It Is an easy think to profess love and say 'I love you. The true test Christ gave when He said, 'Ye are my friends .if you do whatsoever I command .you " MURRAY CONTINUES BIBLE STUDY VORK Rev. L. E. Murray's Bible class will hold Its second session' tomorrow ' night at the First Christian church. Although 75 attended the first meeting and will likely continue In the course, Rev.; Mr.: Murray announces there is rqom for more. It: matters not what denomination or what hurch a person is a member of, he is welcome to attend, the teacher says. A little pamphlet has been recently published describing the course. It says: "The Old Testament may be regarded as the history and literature of the Hebrew people. The history as having been written by. themselves , with the single purpose "of showing ' their mission as God's chosen people 'through whom jm all nations should he fieim-yinrfls key. This determines the choice ot matter . to be admitted and the elec- , tion and rejection of individuals and families." ' '" SOCIETY CONDUCTS PASSION SERVICES Devotional services at the First Christian church last night were con- ' ' ducted by the missionary society. It was a prayer service. Mrs. Julia Burr, C leader, was assisted by Mrs. Webster . Macey. Mrs. Richards of the Central Christian church sang' a solo. Rev. L. E. Murray gave a short talk on "Jesus and His Friends at Beth any." From Jesus' actions and words, the speaker, drew; conclusions1 about the present. He said that Jesus would satisfy the yearningfor higher things in a home and that Jesus calms the troubled spirit today just as surely as He did during His life on earth."
