CHARLEY WHITE MAY REPLACE ' KID WILLIAMS

With Kid Williams in the role of a hold-out, promoters of the fight card to be staged at the Coliseum in May are planning to hook up Charley White the Chicagoan. with Hal - Stewart, the Fort Wayne comer, in case the Wil-liams-Sandow or Mason scrap falls through. -;- ; . Promoter Lichtenstadt said this morning that a wire had been sent to Williams asking his definite answer as to whether he would appear here with Sandow or Mason. In case the bantam mill does not go through the Charlie White-Hal Stewart go would prove a more attractive card to the majority of ring adherents. Charley. White has a reputation extending from coast to coast. The Chicagoan plttle against "the hurricane of Fort Wavne" would constitute

'one great mill, local fans agree.

MARION EXPECTS TO TRIM RICHMOND

"Watch 'Em Trim Richmond," reads a headline in the Marion Chronicle relative to the opening setto between the Marion club and the Quakers at Marion the coming Sunday. Marion is billed to open her at-home season Sunday, and is making big preparation for the reception of the Wayne county clan. Last Sunday the Marion team lost to the Kokomo Red Sox at Kokomo, 2-0. George Mullin. former Detroit Tiger, twirled for Kokomo. That probably accounts for the deefat. Marion has a veteran team, recruited from the ranks of semi-pro speed boys all over the states of Indiana, Ohio and Illinois. Shyock, Marion flinger, is known as the peer of any mound man in semi-pro circles in the state. Eddie Wise, shortstop, is the Logan sport old-timer. ' He is known

Uute Worl, keystone sacker, and Red Baugher, centerfield, are Marion consistents. Indications are that Richmond will need the practice' it is indulging in at Athletic park this week. '

EARLHAM LAUNCHES YEAR WITH MIAMI

Omer Todd, chairman of the umpire committee of the Commercial league, reports that a corps of efficient arbiters has been lined up to take care of this department, so troublesome in; the Commercial circuit last year. Todd has secured at least three umpires, who have volunteered their services. George Brehm has been secured to umpire one game each week. Lyman Lyboult, director of athletics at Garfield school will serve in one

game each week. Another arbiter will j be furnished from the teaching force of the high school or a "Y" representa- j tlve, Mr. Todd reported today. I The acquisition of the fetaff of'u'm-!
