The refugees who came here from Parral and Chihuahua City could give no information with reference to the reported death of Vilia,"but they brought news-of strong anti-American sentiment In the Parral district..- This has been fostered by the claims that the American troops were fingloriously defeated in the Parral clash. I ; -r - A, G. . Urequhart, a mining man - of Parral, .said that . the presence - of American troops in that region .was a menace to the friendly relations which have hitherto existed between Mexican natives and the Americans doing business' in the Parral district. . - v V -'
7 Text St. Matthew 20 Chapter and 18 Verse "Behold, We Go up. to Jerusalem." 1 ' . . - ; T . - . , These are the. words spoken-privately by Jesus to .His disciples when :he turned from Galilee and Perea and set HU face" steadfaslyuponrth--Cross that was waiting for.HimIhthererty of -His:fathera.-.There l,no 'especial sadness in the tone, I think, but a calm "and : complete recognl tion of the inevitable. "Behold we go .up to Jerusalem and the Son of. Man shall be betrayed and they shall condemn Him to Death." This is now all y that Is left, this Is the certain end. V ' V f ' The older we grow, the more familiar we become with the element of f Inevitableness in our Mves, and it is a matter of religloue culture to record how to meet this inevitable. We find ourselves, some ' day, shut up.to hat-j narrow road that has but one end, and at that end there is a Cross, and ; aHer the first consclousnesa.of.it is passed," two .summon: all .we, J have, of ;,Fith and strength and life and My softly ' to bur. heart. What Christ taldj hi ifu;nlM. "Ret. ild vw no'iin to our Jerusalem!'! " : - .,-. ': "
There is a way for ut to face the Inevitable in our' lives, and the way ; Chrisi met the Inevitable of His life is thetonly way, rethink :we shall. ii always find the. superiority of Christ to reside in Ills Inelusiveness.. You; :and I are .'partial, where He Is' complete. : - T W - V ? Jesus faced the Inevitable In his life In the spirit' of compelling thatInevitable to contribute all it can of Power'and Blessing, both tbHlmself ; ' and others. . 'He will certainly go up to Jerusalem, -'but ,ou jof- .that dark x and dreadfui experience, Christ will wrest some benefit' which, shall make " this old world happier and some comfort which shall enrich .Hisown soul ; , forever. ' . . - - . . ' And out from that dark and dreadful ; inevitable v Christ sends back v these heroic words "Be of Good Cheer, .1 , have . over, come ,the World.!'.; And through the spirit and grace of the living Lord Jesus, we. can meetand master the Inevitable in each of our lives, and : compel the same to i 4 yield to us power and blessing for ourselves and 'others.; Rev.i Harry C. AdolpK Finds Dear Chart Given .'Him By Purtelle
Adolph is happy, today. In fact, he returned to his natural self last night. When Eugene Purtelle was trying to put a traction line through Richmond, he had a fine blue print made of the proposed system. . Adolph received a copy with Purtelle's compliments. He esteemed the token highly. '. v Recently he took it to a meeting of the South Side Improvement association to prove that the Dolph line, was not as good as Purtelle's system. The blue print disappeared.
Sltl IS DISOBEDIENCE
The reason that Christ was crucified on the cross and hald to bear the same punishment as a transgressbr was explained last night by the Rev. Raymond Isley at the Second English Lutheran church. His subject was "The Necessity of the Cross." Sin was described as disobedience to God's will. This disobedence separates man from Goa and makes him helpless and unable to save himself.
. Adolph blamed every--members of the association for the theft. . Search parties were appointed, but were unable to locate the precious gift. i Last night, a friend called on Adolph and slammed the blue print down on the counter with the remark: ' ' "I found the blue print on the piano in the administration building. That's where you laid it a month ago." Adolph was too overcome with joy to deny the accusation.
