RUGKER FEARED IMAGINARY FOE PURSUED HIM

Conductor John Franey, on Pennsylvania train No. 13, on which Dean Rucker, the man who committed suicide by jumping out of the vestibule window before the train reached the Richmond station, April 2, testified before Coroner Morrow that his conver

sation with the man immediately be

fore the successful attempt at suicide was made, indicated clearly that his mind was unbalanced.

"The man told me that he thought

somebody was putting up a job on

him," testified Franey. "He said that he knew somebody was going to kill him for his money." The baggageman on the train saw the man kick the glass from the vestibule window and called to the conductor, who, when he turned around, saw Rucker jump. This evidence, the coroner reported in his verdict, clearly shows that the man committed suicide and was not killed as the result of foul play. John Y. Poundstone, of this city, who was a passenger on the train, testified before the coroner. "He kept throwing money in the aisle," testified Mr. Poundstone. "He then got up out of his seat and followed the conductor. He looked as if he imagined someone was after him. He went up to the conductor and I overheard him say that someone wanted to get him for his money."

Symphony orchestra (organized by Theodore Thomas in 1891) at the Coliseum Monday, April 24, constitute one of the best balanced programs that has ever been announced. It is the same program that will be given at Boston and several other eastern cities later in the season. "There is not a person in the city who can afford to miss this concert," said Lee B. Nusbaum, who is partly responsible for bringing the organization to this city. "If heard in Chicago, Boston or New York, a person would not be able to get in the door for less than 2. Richmond is offered an opportunity she must not pass up." The orchestra has the reputation of being the leading organization of its kind in the United States, and for the last two years has gained the reputation of the best orchestra in tho world. The concert will be given here at the popular prices of $1, 75 cents and 50 cents.
