EAGLES RECEIVE GREAT APPLAUSE FOR DRILL WORK
; So fwell did the degree team of the Richtaond Eagles execute its work at the : Fifth and Seventh district meeting; of the State, aerie yesterday that the 'state officials present extended it a special Invitation to compete for honor in the State meeting June 7 and 8. Almost all state officials were present including Charles Potter of Richmond, inside guard of the Grand Aerie. The large delegation that attended from Richmond reports that there was not-a dull moment during the entire ; meeting. Time between sessions was
taken up , showing the delegates interesting parts of Muncie. In the evening all the lodges gathered in a large automobile and pedestrian parade over the principal streets. ' The procession was headed by Prof. Garret's Boys' band ';of fifty pieces, which was followed by a string of fifty automobiles, then came the 2,000 visiting delegates. The;, procession ended in the auditorium where the Richmond team put on the .work. Fiftr-three candidates were initiated by the Richmond team and thirty-eight in the afternoon by the Muncie team. , Paper Praises Team. ; In , regard to the Richmond team, today's issue of the Muncie Morning Star reads: ' v ,; '.'The visitors, too, as well as "the local members of the order, seemed to agree that the crack drill teams of the other fraternal organizations here and elsewhere must look to their laurels if .they are' by any charfce to be brought into competition with the degree team of the Richmond Aerie of Eagles, which put on the initiatory work at the auditorium last night. For brilliant and dazzling formations in: floor maneuvering, the visiting team ' won '.many rounds of applause, as in-i , deed did the Muncie team in the after-1
noon. The Richmond team consisted ;
of eighteen men and a drill master while the Muncie team operates with twelve men. The latter's work is more difficult but the former's more precise and formulary. Muncie's eqipjnent is the gun, Richmond's the sword."
