The picture on the left is a snapshot, showing the brutal, sensual mouth and jaw, the small, cruel eyes and the general bestial appearance of the real Villa. On the right is a studio picture of Villa in his uniform as a Constitutionalist officer, which he gave to an International News Service Correspondent some time ago. Below Villa is seen in the midst of some of his horsemen at a wayside camp. ,

SAN ANTONIO, March 31. An engagement, the first in which United States troops have been engaged in Mexico has been fought by Americans and Mexicans south of the border, ac
cording to reliable information which reached Major General Fred Funston today. General Funston himself believes that General Pershing's forces have been in contact with the followers of Vila, but has received no word as to the outcome of the battle nor its extent. Mrs. A. W. Roach, president of the
Domestic Sciecce associitios, ssid t
da j thait the statements made by mem
bers of tha association resardics the action taken at the meeting Wednesday afternoon in withdrawing from the social serrice bureau was a surprise to her.. She said that although no more than ten or twelve members voted for the resolution, it was a majority and that she believed the action regular in every respect. Several members of the association said today that they believed the action of the president in taking a second vote on. the question after action had been taken at the previous meeting, is not according to the rules of the . association. Mrs. Roach, however, today explained that the resolution that was presented at the former meeting was ruled out by her and consequently this would allow the question to be brought up at a subsequent meeting. Several members, however, said today' that the fact Airs. Roach appointed Mrs: H. H. Huntington as the association's representative on the bureau, indicates that the action in refusing to. withdraw. at the former meeting was taken at that time as final by the president. "I will take this question up at the next meeting," said Mrs. Roach this afternoon. "I have already appointed the committee chairmen but will not announce them until the next meeting of the board."
