LEONARD ADVOCATES OFFICE TO MANAGE VOCATIONAL WORK

Office to control vocational educa tion In Richmond will probably be ad vocated by Dr. R. J. Leonard, director f the local Industry survey. He gave an address at the state conference at Indianapolis Friday evening in which he discussed the question of prepar lnsr teachers to Instruct prospective trade workers. He recommended that in every town over 2,000, an office be created to control vocational educa tion. Pettis A. Reid, member of the state board of education and the Richmond school board, presided over a meeting at the Hotel Severin. Evening and part-time schools in agriculture were discussed. The benefits of vocational training, Dr. Leonard held, are primarily indl--idual and take the form of Increased ""'iciency and wage earning power. fc.condarily, he said, the benefits are social, taking the form of general Industrial development in the country. He declared that the state needs a comprehensive system of vocational training research so that it may have an excellent system to offer In its public Bchools. Hagerstown Notes By Miss Florence Bell. The anniversary of the birthdays of Ruth and Mildred Gladfelter were celebrated at their home Friday evening by a party given by their mother, Mrs. Melville Gladfelter. The schoolmates of the girls and their teachers were guests. Games were played and the hostess served refreshments. They were recipients of many nice presents. The guests were: Miss Nora Thalls, Ruth Benfow, Edna Holiday, Virginia Unthank, Lenore Smith. Helen Ueplogle, Pauline Kuhn, Bernon Mohler, Walter Wigan, Elbert Ulrich, Ralph Urandt. Coleman Rhoades, lewJa Thalls, Wilfred Knapp, Clarence Clark, Miss Lulu Brown, Emma Wadman. Virginia White, Georgia Holiday, Louis Burgess, Pauline Knapp, Joseph Harlan, Garver Brown, Edith Clark, Gladys Clark. Mrs. George Clark helped Mrs. Gladfeller to serve the re freshments. Thin Girls, Cut This Out The expression of happiness and gratitude of fseveral of his young lady patients for whom he prescribed the recently successful fle6b-formlng product, known as.5-graln tonollne tablets, is related by a physician in one of the medical publications, and it comes as a surprise to the ordinary layman to learn the heart throbs of distress which seems to affect so many young people who are abnormal ly thin. Also to know that the weight can be readily increased by the use, regularly for a short time of this new treatment now obtainable at drug gists in scaled packages with complete instructions for self-administration.
