TO INSPECT LOCAL RECRUITING OFFICE
Lieutenant CoppocL of Indianapolis, who has charge of the state recruiting offices, will be in Richmond Friday to visit the branch station recently established here by Sergeant F. D. Bond. Word to this effect was received by Sergeant Bond today. There are several candidates for enlistment who will be examined by the lieutenant upon his arrival.. One recruit has so far been sent from the local station to Mexico to join General Pershing's forces.
EVANGELIST COMES TO NAZARENE CHURCH
Rev. M. E. Harding of New Castle, district superintendent of the Xazarene church of Indiana, tonight will replace Rev. C. E. Ellsworth, an evangelist who has been delivering the sermons during the revival services being conducted at the old Fifth street M. E. church, Fifth and A streets.. The revival Is being conducted under the auspices of the Pentecostal church of the Nazarene and Rev. Ellsworth of Cleveland, Ind., has been directing the services. The song services are being led by Mrs. M. E. Harding, soloist and Miss Eunice Oakes, of Indianapolis, pianist. "The Old Time Bible" revival as it is designated will continue indefinitely under the direction of the district superintendent.
ELI COGGESHALL DIES
Word has - been received - by relatives of the death of Eli Coggeshall, age 75 years, at Marion, Indiana; yesterday from cancer of . the stomach. Funeral services will be held Friday at Marion. The deceased was a relative of Allen Coggeshall, Mesdames A. E. Williams and R. W. Hall of this city.
HOLD LENTEN WORSHIP.
Lenten services were held Wednesday night in all the : Lutheran and Catholic churches including sermons by the pastors and in some of the churches, special song services. The Wednesday night services will continue until Easter Sunday. In the Catholic churches services are being held also on each Friday, night. Representative attendances were present at the services, last night.
In early Italian playing cards, cups took the place of hearts, swords of spades and coins of diamonds.

crntly adopted by the state board of (duration. The resolution reads as
follows:
"Resolved, That the applicant for
teacher's license who may have failed on one or two subjects may have the privilege of removing these failures Bt the next examination. But if the npplicant neglects to take all the subjects of the second examination he thereby waives the right to remove the failures of the previous examination." About 125 applicants are expected lo take the examination Saturday.
BIOS ARE ASKED.
Preliminary steps looking to the liolding of the high school annual commencement exercises were taken by seniors today when bids for the printing of the invitations were solicited of local firms. The commencement will be held June 2. and th speaker will be selected within a short time. No other arrangements have been completed.
