Here Yon See the Taxi-, cab Face in All of Its Convolutions. First you see the victim in the cab taking notice. , The "clock" fascinates him. He gets a little closer. He is also a little worried. Having but a certain amount of loose change in his pocket he finds that as the clock rises his temperature rises, too, until he is perspiring like the good old summer time. And last of all a pathetic picture truly he comes to his destination and parts with all his wherewithal. Isn't that 'enough to give anybody a "Taxicab Face"?

Below we see a picture of Mr. Taxicab In the throes of a "cold "sweat." The clock seems to go twice as fast as the wheels do on 1 the taxicab. Each tick seems to say "ten cents more ten cents more," and it's a long way to Brooklyn. Above we come to the final, last and dreadful straw. There Is the clock beaming maliciously and victoriously at its victim. And the victim? Oh, he's just shelling out all he has and perhaps a little more. -

"It is not wise to condemn the trades unless you know of violations of law. Our merchants are honest. Sometimes they make mistakes as do their clerks. Mistakes while they need not always be dishonest ones, are always costly. The same mistake twice indicates carelessness, you cannot excuse, or intentional fraud. "Remember, too, cheapness is not economy. Good butter at thirty cents a pound Is cheaper than impure butter at fifteen cents a pound. "Sound meat from inspected animals Is worth more than uninspected meat from some local peddler. The dealer who advertises cheap food is not the safe dealer to patronize. Margins on food values are too small to allow discount sales. Law Compels Accuracy. "Remember, that Iodiana has laws that compel the sale of pure food; that provide punishment for the dealer who gives short weight or uses incorrect measures. Laws that regulate the sanitation of food establishments. "All dry commodities must be sold by standard dry measures. Liquid measures are - for liquids, only. All

commodities must be sold by weight or measures or be marked, with their correct weight. Butter may not be sold by the roll unless each roll has the net weight marked in it. Berries may not be sold by the box unless the box i3 standard dry quart or pint. "No kitchen is complete jvithout a good scale and a set of accurate' dry and liquid measures. "Above all get behind the law and support of honesty. "Help your inspector of weights and measures, your tradesmen and get the result of better protection, better service and better living for your self and family."
