It was born through the shattered windows that gave evidence ' of the . destruction wrought by the raiders bullets. Over the desolate but vigilant town was seen faintly the red glow of the dying embers which were all that remained of the hotel and several homes. Thirteenth Cavalry Buries Bodies of Slain Soldiers. At the camp of the Thirteenth cavalry arrangements were being made to ship to their distant homes for burial the bodies of the soldiers killed. Tributes to the valor of the slain soldiers were paid on all sides Joday. The finest came from a grizzled sergeant, who said, his eyes blazing with wrath at the Villlstas: i "These boys certainly stood up to their work like veterans. The boys had never been under fire before but they never faltered." ' In addition to the Mexicans killed in the town and as they crossed the border from forty to fifty were shot down in the pursuit south of the . international line. One officer said that at least 150 of Villa's men were killed and as many more wounded. ' The Mexicans wasted their ammunition, shooting at every movingthing. Luck Changes Suddenly for Man in Dayton
"It was the luckiest day of my life," Roy Mustard said to the Tanlac man yesterday as he explained his good fortune in getting in touch with Tanlac. Mr. Mustard lives at 65 McReynolds Btreet, Dayton. "I've had a round with stomach trouble that almost put me off my pins. It la the meanest thing a man has to deal with. It hangs onto a fellow tighter than the itch. It has so many ways of making a man miserable. My stomach bloated so I had to loosen my clothing after eating and pains doubled me up. Weakness and dizziness nearly always followed, and I would have a scared, nervous feeling." Mr. Mustard stated. "I thought I had heart trouble, but Tanlac took that notion out of my head. Soon as I began taking the medicine my food digested and the heart disease' was gone. Each dose counted and health grew rapidly. I
stopped having that strange all-gone Fonsation. I never feel groggy and giddy, and the pain that made me hug
my stomach after meals has vacated I don't know I have nerves.
"Tanlac put me back on my feet, and with its help," said Mustard earnestly,
"I intend to stay there."
The human stomach hungers for the nutritive properties of Tanlac. It Is a delicately adapted to a stomach that

attitude toward the Americans actually Is, it is not likely that there will be any invasion of Mexico. And even though Carranza should consent to the American cavalry going after Villa there will be an ever present danger that his action will not be backed up by the Mexican people or his own army. Secretary Lansing, in his conference with Ambassador Designate Arredondo, told him that he trusted no ob
jection would be made to the action
of the American troops in pursuing
the bandits far into Mexico. And it is understood that the secretary sent a
similar' word direct to General Carranza through Consul Silllman, who
still is with the head of the de facto
government.
In this connection the secretary of
state pointed out that the action of the American troopers. in no way con
stituted an invasion of Mexico that could be considered an unfriendly act and that this government would rigidly adhere to its pledges not to interfere with the de facto government.

The officers there declined to talk, but the enlisted men were generally of the belief that the American troops will be ordered into Mexico to hunt down Villa. In this connection reports reached Fort Bliss that Major Tompkins who led American troops that crossed the border at Columbus was remonstrated with by a Carranza officer when he returned to the international gate about five imles from Columbus. The Carranza officer protested against American troops going into Mexico but Major Tompkins made a sharp reply emphasized by the drawing of his revolver and the Carranza squad of about forty men did not interfere further.
