PALLADIUM WANT AD8 PAY
(Left to right: Miss Marion Hollins and Miss Lillian B. Hyde.) The season of 1916 promises to bring forth the most brilliant array of woman golf stars that the popular outdoor sport has ever enjoyed. More women expert wielders of the golf
clubs are conditioning themselves for the many strenuous matches of the various tournaments than ever before. The Metropolitan championship, which is scheduled for the early part of June, at the Nassau Country club, Glen Cove, Long Island, will serve as
MILTON MASONS RE-OPEN ROOMS: RUPE IS TALKER
MILTON, Ind., March 2. The members of Milton Masonic lodge recently
remodeled their lodge home at a cost
of $2,300. The building was formally
opened to the regular form of work,
Monday evening with a fine program
and banquet. There were about 175 in
attendance.prlnclpally composed of the local Masons and their families and members of the Eastern Star with only a very few special guests. Among theee were Mr. and Mrs. George F. Armstrong of Springfield, O., Mr. Armstrong having been affiliated with Milton lodge at one time. The following constitutes the program observed: Opening number, music by the orchestra; invocation, the Hon. J. W. Judkins; music by the orchestra; address, John L. .Rupe of Richmond; music by the orchestra; "History of the Lodge," by Sherman Werking; music by the orchestra; talks by J. W. Judkins, Rev. F. C. McCormick and the Rev. M. S. Taylor. Mr. Rupe introduced hls remarks by several amusing features in which members of Milton lodge were interested and aft?r getting his audience in a high good humor spoke more seriously of Masonry. Sherman Werklng told of the institution of the Masonic lodge at Milton, and of the brothers who assisted in forming that lodge, and spoke of his own entrance to Milton lodge and of the flourishing condition of the chapter. At the close of the program all were invited to the banquet room where an elegant spread had been prepared. The evening was one of great pleasure to all.

RUSH OF ORDERS
GREENWOOD PLANT SEEKS WAR ORDERS
' Despite the secrecy maintained by J T. Polk & Co., owners of a large canning plant at Greenwood, it became known today that Ralph Polk, manager of the company, is in New York seeking to close war contracts for food supplies which will make Greenwood one of the largest war supply centers in this country. Harry McCartney, secretary of the company, admitted that Mr. Polk was in New York, but he declined to confirm the reported war deal. It is understood that if the contracts are signed 1,000,000 cans of specially prepared rations will be supplied each week. The American Canning company and Swift & Co., are said to be concerned with the local company in the negotiations. The orders would

Mr. Gennett says the new factory will be ready to operate early in the summer. W. H. Middleton has the contract for the construction. ' "The new factory will have a capacity for two hundred workmen, and it is planned to begin operations with such a force," Mr. Gennett said. "This factory will be used exclusively for the manufacture of parts for the Starr phonograph and for record . pressing. Our phonograph has received a very gratifying reception throughout the country, and the piano business is also good at the present time. We are looking forward to a very satisfactory season." City Recovers Completely. With the expansion of several of Richmond's largest factories Richmond has completely recovered from the blow received 'when the Gaar-Scott plant ceased operations, throwing several hundred men out of employment.
Good factory workmen are now in demand in this city. Business men also
note with satisfaction that the local industrial improvement has been accomplished without the stimulus of war contract orders. Within a year the National Automatic Tool company has almost doubled its output capacity, the four auto mobile factories have been swamped with orders, the casket manufacturing companies have at no time felt the effect of industrial depression; the E11I-ott-Reid Fence company anticipates a very good season, and a large force of men is now employed by the American Seeding Machine company, whose business has been steadily and rapidly increasing. The two lawn mower factories are going to show an increase over their very satisfactory 1915 business, and the several smaller manufacturing concerns are also looking forward to a very good business.
the first meeting place for women golf ers of the local district. -The National championship, at Boston, will serve as the final meeting grounds for the would be women champions of the sport. Miss Lillian B. Hyde, four times
Metropolitan champion and holder of
titles in Florida, Pinehurst and many other places, is considered by many as one of the most brilliant performers of the country, is longer with the wood ' than the present national title
holder. In fact, her long driving and
powerful iron play have made her one
of the foremost golfers of the country.
Miss Marion Hollins, of the Nassau
Country Club, of Glen Cove, L. I., is another whose championship form has
been most consistent. Her sensational
win from Miss Georgia Bishop, of Brooklawn, on the Long Island golf links in June, 1913, which caused her
to become the Metropolitan champion for the year, will long be remembered
by devotees of the game:
