The internment of of 14.00 Germans

and natives in Spanish Guinea, to which they retreated from Kamerun, reported In dispatches from Madrid, leaves but the Colony of German East Africa in the hands of the Tuetons. The Kamerun campaign began more than a year ago, the British occupying the ports and working into the interior from the coast and from Nigeria on the North, while the French advanced from the French Congo, which bounds the German, possession on the south and east, ' The taking of Kamerun leaves Ger man East Africa as the only remaining German possession in Afrci. At the beginipg of the war the Germans held German Southwest Africa, a great tract lying on the Atlantic north of the Union of German East Africa. Togoland was conquered easily; German Southwest Africa fell before the forces of the Union of South Africa under Premier Botha, the one time Boer General, after a long and arduous campaign. No affective expedition has been sent against German East Africa, minor attempts by the British to enter

this colony have been repulsed, and at last accounts German forces from the colony were just across the border in British East Africa.

MISS OKLEY QUITS HERE TO ACCEPT BETTER JOB

Confirming an announcement made in the Palladium last night that Miss Nellie Oxley, visiting nurse, had resigned the Social Service bureau through its president, Fred S. Bates, issued a statement today. No announcement has been made as to the next step to be taken toward continuing the work which Miss Oxley gives up. Wednesday, March 1, 1916. Miss Nellie F. Oxley who for the past month has been doing the work of Visiting Nurse for the Social Service Bureau, has tendered her resignation in order to accept a more advantageous position in the East and will probably leave the city Thursday to take up her new work. Miss Oxley was employed by the Domestic Science Association and came under the direction of the Bureau when the Association decided to turn over the visiting nurse work to the Bureau. She was employed by the Association with the understanding that she would give it a month's trial, and her

time expires this week. The Bureau express much regret that she has not decided to stay permanently. Social Service Bureau, F. S. Bates, Pres.

Continued From Page One. Wayne county, fifteen months ago, is

one which is receiving earnest con

sideration on the part of Democratic and Republican leaders throughout the district at the present time. How Vote Stood in 1914. In 1914 Finly H. Gray, the Democratic candidate, received 18,371 votes in the district. Combined, Lynch and Russell polled 24,329 votes. This vote tabulated follows: County. F. Gray. Rep. Prog. Fayette 1,634 2,269 Franklin 1,939 1,706 Hancock 2,405 2,100 Henry 2,795 4,123 Rush 2,235 3,109 Shelby 3,366 3,320 Union 705 981 Wayne 3,292 6,721 Totals 18,371 24,329 It would appear that even though the Republicans next November polled in the seven counties outside of Wayne, practically all the Progressive vote

When Itching Stops

There is one safe, dependable treatment that relieves itching torture instantly and that cleanses and soothes the skin. Ask any druggist for a 25c bottle of zemo and apply it as directed. Soon you will find that pimples, black heads, eczema, ringworm and similar skin troubles will disappear. A little zemo, the penetrating, satisfying liquid, is all that is needed, for it banishes all skin eruptions and makej the skin soft, smooth and healthy. Zemo, Cleveland.

Yvonne is the foster daughter of Princess Miskinof f and the cause of many quarrels with the latter and her husband. At the suggestion ofthe Princess herself, the Prince and Yvonne underwent a three-months' love test. Prince Miskinoff, who is considerably younger than his wife, admits he was fascinated by the latter's foster-daughter, Yvonne. The girl, he said, was simply irresistible, at times. He claims she did all she could to attract his notice. Prince Miskinoff had had several stormy martial experiences before her marriage to the Prince, but none that compared to her troubles with him. Note the tatooing on her arm. Because of the publicity given to Prince Miskinoff 's separation suit in the Supreme Court of New York it is probable that a , quiet settlement will be reached outside of court.

cast in those counties in 1914, -and the Democratic congressional candidate secured, in the same counties, practically the same vote cast for Gray in 1914, the Republicans would have no cinch on securing a majority of the votes cast in the district if two-thirds of the Wayne county Prograssive vote of 1914 went over to the Democratic candidate. "Free Lances are Strong. This emphasizes tne importance being attached to the "free lance" Progressive vote now at large in Wayne county, It is safe to say that seventenths of this vote will support at the polls next November, the congressional candidate looked upon as the "best man," because at least that number of former Wayne county Progressives are now independents. A careful survey of the political situation in Wayne county would indicate that the Republicans would make the strongest bid for the support of this big Wayne county independent vote by the nomination of Judge D.

W. Comstock for congress. He is a popular Wayne county man, and a man who has not made himself obnoxious to Progressives in the past. It is doubtful if P. J. Lynch would poll a tenth of this independent vote. It would appear that Finly H. Gray is even more objectionable to Wayne county's small army of free lance voters than P. J. Lynch, hence the nomination of John M. Lontz as the Democratic candidate for representative in congress would appear to be the logical move on the part of the Democratic voters. There is no gainsaying the fact that the Lontz candidacy would make an appeal to these independents. His outspoken advocacy of a tariff commission and the abolition of "pork barrel" government has mada a decided impression. Another strong argument which has been advanced in favor of the nomi-

nation of Lontz is the fact that in J1914i Finly Gray only carried Shelby,

a county Known as a Democratic stronghold, by a majority of 46, and

only carried Hancock county, another dyed-in-the-wool Democratic county, by a majority of 305.

Dangerous Varicose Veins Can Be Reduced

If you or any relative or friend Is worried because of varicose veins, or bunches, the best advice that anyone in this world can give is to get a prescription that many physicians are now prescribing. Ask your druggist for an iriginal two-ounco bottle of Emerald Oil (full strength) and apply night and morning to the swollen, enlarged veins. Soon you will notice that they are growing smaller and the treatment should be continued until the veins arc of normal size. So penetrating and powerful is Emerald Oil that it dissolves goitre and wens and causes them to disappear. It can always be secured at Leo H. Fihe's. Adv.
