What Labor Investigators Found. The investigation conducted by the United States into the employment of children and women has revealed the following:

"Children were found employed in great numbers, below the legal age, at work legally prohib

ited to children of their age.

"They are employed at illegal times and for

illegally long hours through evasions of the law and under false certificates of age. "Approximately 50 per cent of the women employed in cotton, glass, garment and silk industries, over 16 years of age, earn less than $6 a representative week. "Among 5,000 representative families of wage earners, from 82 to 93 per. cent of them have young girls earning wages.

"Approximately 90 per cent of their earnings I

were contributed to the support of the family. "In practically all industries the large propor

tion of women earn wages inadequate to supply a reasonable standard of living for women dependent on themselves." The cause for many cases of delinquency, the frequency with which some women are hailed into police court, is explained in the findings of the investigators. Can You Operate a Fire Alarm Box? Five lives were lost in a New York fire early this week because the person who turned in the alarm did not know how to operate the fire alarm box. The first man who turned in an alarm was so excited that he did not pull the lever far enough to sound the alarm. .Ten minutes. passed before another alarm was turned in, and in the meantime the fire gained such headway that five persons were burned to death. What is the condition in Richmond? How many persons know where the nearest fire alarm box to their residence is located? How many could operate the lever? The delay of a few minutes in sending an alarm may be sufficient to make your home a prey to the fire demon. If you must turn to a fire alarm directory before you can speed to a box, the chances are that the blaze will have a sufficient start to destroy your home or work heavy damages.

Why pay Tire Bills for Others-

i. c, for RECKLESS Drivers

A MERICANS who want their money's worth, who dislike to pay for the Reckless-driving extravaJL jL gance of Others, in the price of their own Tires, should sit up and take notice of following FACTS:The current Goodrich "Fair-List" price on Tires, is based upon ivhat it costs the largest, and best equipped, Rubber Factory in America to produce them. No " Insurance " Premium added to the NORMAL retail price of Goodrich Tires, in order to protect the Reckless Driver at the expense of the Careful Driver, through a fancy List Price which is high enough to absorb that Premium. The excess Mileage each Goodrich Tire is reasonably certain to deliver, when given reasonable care in driving, thus becomes clear ''Velvet" to the Owner of GOODRICH Tires. Money can't make, and can't buy, better Tires of Fabric construction, than Goodrich Safety-Tread Tires, as Test will prove. And, money can't buy the B. F. Goodrich Co. to produce Tires which would discredit the 269 other lines of Rubber Goods made by the B. F. Goodrich Co., for which its name stands Sponsor.

COMPARE prices on Goodrich "Fair-List" Tires with present prices on any Either responsible Tires in the field, bearing in mind that NO "LARGER-SIZED" Tire3 (type for type and size for size) than Goodrich BlackVTreads, are made in America. Then, Test out at least ONE pair of Goodrich black' tread Tires, on their per-DEUVERED-Mile cost to you, against any other Tires in the field, at any price, and, abide by the Result. Why (if YOU are not a Reckless Driver) should YOU pay MORE than the "BUSINESS" price of the Goodrich Tire, for ANY Fabric Tire in the field ? Get a sliver of the new Goodrich "Barefoot" Rubber from your nearest Goodrich Dealer or Branch. THE B. F. GOODRICH CO Akron, Ohio.
