OF DIPHTHERIA IN STARR ROOM
Although three new cases of diphtheria were discovered among the pupil of Starr school. Dr. A. L. Bramcamp and Dr. J. E. King, school pbysic'ans, believe that they have the situation under control and are taking every precaution to prevent the spread of the disease. Several pupils were sent home from Garfield school today becuuse of. suspicious looking throats and several pupils from Starr school. ODD FELLOWS PLAN TO CONFER DEGREES
Whitewater lodge, I. O. O. F. i3 making arrangements for Initiatory work to be conducted Friday night, Mar. 3 for twenty-five candidates whose applications have been received. Fifteen of these applications were received in connection with the annual roll call held recently by that lodge. On next Friday night, the second and third degrees will be conferred on two candidates.

FRATERNAL ORDERS RECEIVE MEMBERS IN LARGE NUMBERS
" Membership campaigns being conducted by Aurius fraternal orders in Richmond are producing satisfactory results to each oije, as in shown by the large number of applications which have been received. The Loyal Order of Moose will initiate fifty-six candidates next Monday niftlit. Forty -five new members have been received by Wayne aerie, F. O. K. Twenty-five of these candidates will be Initiated In two or three weeks. Whitewater lodge, I. O. O. EAGLES GOMMITTEE ARRANGES MEMORIAL
DENIES TELLING CHILD TO STEAL GOAL FROM OAR
With the appointment of a committee to make arrangement and discussion of preliminary details, plans were launched at the regular lodge meeting of Wayne Aerie, F. O. E. last night for the annual memorial services which will be held the last of March. The committee Is composed of Chairman Charles E. Potter, Adam Elstro, Floyd Pohlman, Bert Ewbank and William Hoelscher. Twenty-five applications for membership were read. With these a totai of forty-five new members have been secured during the campaign which is in progrss.
Jesse Goodling, a one-armed man who testified he had been trying to support a family on a wage of fifty cents a day, earned as a porter, and George Helms, were arraigned In citycourt .this morning on a charge of having stolen coal from the C. & O. railroad. Goodling's case was taken under advisement. Helms was charged with having instructed his daughter to steal the coal while he enjoyed himself uptown. He entered a plea of not guilty. He said he didn't know , what his daughter might have done but he was positive he never ordered her to steal the coal. This afternoon Helms case was given a flening. Evidence showed the man to be guilty as charged and he was fined $25 and costs and given a, sentence of one hundred days at the Indiana penal farm.
VALUE ESTATE AT $7,175
The final report on appraisement of the estate of Laniel Pollard was made in circuit court today. The estate is valued at $7,175.
PROMISES SUPPORT
George Coleman was released this morning in circuit court on his own recognizance on promise to support his wife and child. Camplaint was filed against him several days ago by his wife, May Coleman.
Y. M. 1. WINS CONTEST
The Y. M. I. won from members of of St. Joseph Benevolent society last night in the fourth and closing game of the euchre contest. The proceeds were divided 60 per cent and 40 per cent bethe two organizations.

George Carlin of Cambridge City, was fined $10 and costs in circuit court this morning on a charge of petit larceny. He was arrested for stealing a half bushel of corn from Lawrence Jakes of Cambridge City.

Albei t Anderson, former county commissioner from the eastern district, has been confined to his home at Milton with a' serious illness. Mr. Anderson has been living in Milton for several month, where he is manager of a grain elevator.
BEN HUR INITIATES
A representative number of members of the Tribe of Ben Hur are expected to, be present, at the . regular meeting in the Commercial club rooms tonight, when a large class will be initiated. District Deputy Rider, who secured the new applications, will continue his membership campaign in Richmond.

Preparations have practically been completed for the initiation of fiftysix candidates by the Loyal Order of Moose on next Monday night. The applications are the result of a membership campaign which is in progress by

BRIDGE COMMITTEES REPORT ON PROGRESS
Further consideration of the Main street bridge problem -.was made at a noon luncheon in the Y. M. C. A. today
by twelve members of the executive committee of the citizens committee. Dr. I. S. Harold, chairman, presided. Reports of the progress of the work being done in the several sub-divisions of the committee and an exchange of views concerning various phases of the problem, were made.
