SHIVELEY TO PRESIDE Continued From Page One eeks the' fight to determine which one of the two G. O. P. congressional candidates will carry Wayne county promises to be a battle royal. Lynch , supporters admit that the New Castle florist must carry Wayne county if he wins the coveted nomination. They also realize that he has a huge job ut out for himself, as all political straws point to the fact that the bulk of the Republican voters in Wayne favor the Comstock candidacy. Strong For Comstock. In lining up behind the Comstock candidacy Wayne county Republicans have taken what they regard as a ' practical view of the political situation. In the first place they regard ! .ludge Comstock as a man particularly qualified for the office he aspires to. In the second place they believe the Wayne county vote next fall will de- ! ride whether the Sixth district is to be ' represented in congress the next two years by a Democrat or a Republican, and believing the Democratic nominee will be a very popular Wayne county man, John M. Lontz, they feel that the only chance to defeat him will be the selection of a Wayne county man as the Republican standard-bearer, of the caliber of Judge Comstock. Having formulated such an opinion regarding the merits of the two aspirants for the Republican congresnional nomination, it Is admitted that Lynch will have to put forth superhuman efforts to break down the Comstock strength in the county which is to decide the outcome of the Republican congressional contest at the primary election. Lynch intends to open up headquarters in Richmond next week and a movement is now on foot to organize n Lynch Boosting club In Richmond. Next Friday the commission " will give consideration to the "petition recently filed by the company foivthe establishment of a temporary gas rate schedule which provides an increase of approximately 75 per cent over existing rates. , ' Richmond officials are taking much interest in the suit which was filed by the City of Rushville contesting the right of the public utilities commission to establish rates for public utilities. The action on the part of the City of Rushville followed the order of the commission authorizing a fifty per cent increase in gas rates in that city. The case was tried in the Rush circuit court. ' Judge Sparks has not yet rendered an opinion. No matter how he rules, it is stated, an appeal will be taken to the supreme court. BRITISH WARSHIP IS SENT TO BOTTOM IN SEA ENCOUNTER BERLIN,. Feb. 15 (By Wireless) The admiralty announced today that in addition to sinking the British cruiser Arabia in the Dogger Bank engagement, German torpedo boats sent another British Warship to the bottom with a torpedo. : The admiralty statement giving additional details of the Dogger Bank battle speaks of British vessels of a new type now in service, saying: "New English ships ' took part in the Dogger Bank naval battle. They are constructed for mining and air defense service, being built on the lines of a email cruiser. They have a speed of 16 knots and carry crews of 78 men. They were taken into active service only in January." UNION COUNTY Continued From Page One. have at least one legislator in order that all parts of the state may be fairly represented. "The Democrats of Wayne county have conceded the fairness of this view by allowing their brethren' in Union to nominate Mr. Albert Bell, a brother of Mayor Bell of Indianapolis. "The Republican aspirant from Union county is Mr. Oliver Lafuze, an up-to-date farmer and business man, who is at present serving as county chairman. "Mr. Lafuze is not a professional office seeker, but is desirous of representing Union and Wayne for the good he can do. He has always taken great interest in all public affairs in his native county, is especially interested in farm, orchard and road topics and believes in 'common-sense legislation.' "It is generally thought here in Union that when Wayne county voters have thought over the situation they will concede the nomination of joint representative to Union county, but many do not understand why it can not be done unanimously, especially after the understanding that the Wayne county Republican committee intended to bring about a square deal." HERBERT BUNDY NAMED. Herbert Bundy, colored, was appointed janitor at the court house today. He will work on the first floor. His salary was fixed at $10 a week. "THIRTY FEET FROM SEVENTH STREET."

"When the Twelfth street bridge contract came np, why was it that there were no more bidders? Mueller made the plans and when other companies came to the commissioners and asked them whether they would be considered if they submitted . a bid on their own plans and specifications, they were informed by the commissioners that 'Mueller's plans are good enough. This is the reason why Wayne county has had no more opposition." Bridges Cost Too Much. "Wayne county has not been getting bridges built cheaper than other counties. A Randolph county contractor told me this morning that bridges of similar type and size were being built in that county for 20 per cent less than in Wayne county." When asked whether he will take any steps toward making a demand on the commissioners for recognition in the bridge work, Mr. Peacock replied that he was not ready to make a statement, but reiterated his former statement that he will not ask for any of the larger jobs if the commissioners agree to appoint some one else than Mr. Mueller. "When the time comes, said Mr. Peacock, "I will give some information I have that will make it extremely embarrassing for Mr. Mueller." PEACOCK FIGHT Continued From Page One. that the county surveyor is incompetent to handle the special work. It then falls upon the county surveyor to present his case before the commissioners in a hearing and prove that he is competent. He has a right of a thirty day appeal to circuit court, where he will be forced to prove, by producing expert testimony, that he is competent to handle the work. He then boil3 the matter down to a fight between the special bridge engineer and the county surveyor." '"I cannot understand why the county surveyor has not raised this point before," said Gustave Hoelscher. "Two years ago I informed him on the law in the case but he took no action and it is hard to see why he should step in now." tween the surveyor and Bridge Engineer Mueller will result in the postponement of definite action on both the south side and the Main street bridges. Bridge Engineer Mueller has been instructed by the commissioners to make preliminary plans for the Main street bridge and his plans for the south side bridge at G street are practically completed. It is probable that he will -do nothing further with these plans' until some decision - is reached on the matter of the contract. . "I have been trying to get Peacock to take, a step like .this for several years," said Mueller.' "I have known the law on the question and it is clear that the county surveyor must institute action of ,thisind before the commissioners can do anything. I promise that there will be some interesting developments before this is over." .', Confers With State. -Mr. Mueller had a conference with the state board of accounts last week end he was told at that time that the county commissioners had a perfect right to make separate contracts with bridge engineers on a per cent basis. The engineers are required to have separate contracts, ; however, as was explained by Mr. Hoelscher. The method of making the appointment is somewhat in doubt, said Mr. Mueller, and it is on this point that Mr. Hoelscher desired to make a further investigation. In Marion county, Hoelscher reported, the county surveyor is on a straight salary sufficient to attract competent men to the office. In that county the surveyor has charge of all the bridge work. The statute states that in counties over 150,000 popula-
A Message To Thin Weak Scrawny Folks An Easy Way to Gain 10 to 30 Pounds Of Solid, Healthy Permanent Flesh. Thin, nervous, undeveloped men and women everywhere are heard to say, "I can't understand why I do not get fat. I eat plenty of good nourishing food." The reason is just this: You cannot get fat, no matter how much you eat, unless your digestive organs assimilate the fat-making elements of your food instead of passing them out through the body as waste. What is needed is a means of gently urging the assimilative functions of the stomach and intestines to absorb the oils and fats and hand them over to the blood, where they may reach the . starved, shrunken, run-down tissues and build them up. The thin person's body is like a dry sponge eager and hungry for the fatty materials of which it is being deprived by the failure of the alimentary canal to take them from the food. . A splendid way of working to overcome this sinful waste of flesh building elements and to stop the leakage of fats is to try Sargol, the famous flesh building agent that has been so widely sold in America in recent years. Take a little Sargol tablet with eyer meal and see if you cheeks don't quickly fill out and rolls of firm healthy flesh form over your body, covering each bony angle and projecting point. Clem Thistlethwaite's four stores and other good druggists have Sargol or can get it from their wholesaler, and will refund your money if you are not satisfied with the cain in weight it produces as stated on the guarantee in each large package. It is inexpensive, easy to take and highly efficient. NOTE Sargol is recommended Only as a flesh builder and while excellent results in cases of nervous indigestion, etc., have been reported, care should be taken about using it unless a gain of weight is desired. adv.
