LONTZ RECEIVES GOOD WELCOME AT GREENFIELD
John M. Lonti, a candidate (or tbe Democratic congressional nomination, received an enthusiastic welcome in Greenfield yesterday. Hancock county Democracy is bitterly antagonistic to ward Rep. Gray's candidacy. In the evening Mr. Lontz addressed a meeting of party workers.' His championship ot a tariff commission and a federal old age pensioning sys tem were particularly well received Mr. Lontz stated that if elected to congress one of his first efforts would be the introduction of an old age pension bill along plans be has been working upon for some time. Mr. Lontz was introduced at tbe meeting ' last night by Dr. C. A. Robinson of Green field, once a Democratic congressional candidate against Henry U. Johnson Because of infirmatiea Dr. Robinson had to be carried to the speaker's plat form. Mr. Lontz will be very busy cam paigning for the next few days. His schedule is as follows: Saturday: Brook ville: Monday Shelby county, Flatrock, Shelbyville, Wa'dron, Blue Ridge, Fairland and London. Reports that Germany has made peace overtures to the Belgian government were officially denied today by the Belgian legation. ATHENS, Feb. 11. Premier Skouloudis' policy of neutrality was upheld by the chamber of deputies today. A vote of confidence In the government was carried 266 to 6. 8ALONIKA, Feb. 11. German and Bulgarian troops massed on the Greek frontier for the campaign against Salonikl number 198,000 men and more are arriving daily, according to reports made to General Serrail, the allies' commander, by Franco-British air scouts. MAY SEND SHOWALTER TO PARENTS' HOME Earl Showalter, 19, a homeless lad who has been held in custody by the police several days, today informed Prosecutor Keller that he had been left alone in Richmond by his family when they moved to Athens, III., because they did not have enough money to take blm to Athens. The lad has no underwear and his clothing Is ragged and torn. An effort will be made to have the boy sent to his father. NEW PARIS INJURED SHOW IMPROVEMENT NEW PARIS. O., Feb. 11 The men who were injured in the accident last Friday at the Reinhelmer quarries are doing nicely. Roy Flaher is still confined at Reid hospital, but will be removed to the home of his mother here in a few days. C. A. DECIDE8 ON COLORS At the meeting of the primary election committee the colors for the primary ballots was decided on. The Democratic ticket will be white; Republican, red, and Progressive yellow. The colors of the sample ballots will be. Democratic, green; Republican, blue and Progressive, brown. German shippers have never favored the Kiel canal, as tbey prefer the long sea voyages to the toll charges.

KELLY FILLS PULPIT AT BAPTIST CHURCH The representatives from the First Baptist church of this city to the laymen's missionary convention in Dayton this week will be the pastor, Rev. W. O. Stovall, Russell McMahan and David Stevenson, Jr. On account of the pastor's absence in attendance at the convention next Sunday the pulpit of the First Baptist church will be occupied in the morning by President Robert L. Kelly of Earlham college, and in the evening by Dr. J. J. Rae of the First Presbyterian church. EVANGELIST SPEAKS. A fifteen-minutes address by one of the Kerr brothers, evangelists who are conducting revival services at the Grace M. E. church, was made this mornijig at chapel in the high school auditorium. SACRIFICES HALF HOLIDAY A half holiday will be sacrificed by clerks and carriers of the Richmond postoffice in order to make St. Valen tine's day, February 14, a happy day for thousands of persons in Richmond. Lincoln's birthday, which ordinarily means a half-holiday for postoffice employes, will not be observed this year. An order has come from the postoffce department allowing the postmaster to dispense with the half holiday because the mails would become congested if the Saturday service was eliminated. Regular deliveries will be made tomorrow and Monday. EVANGELISTS HOLD SPECIAL SERVICES Two mass meetings will feature the union revival services at Grace and First Methodist churches Sunday. A meeting for women will be held at Grace church. Rev." J. M. Kerr will address this gathering. His subject will he, "The Model Woman." At First church Rev. H. W. Kerr will deliver the address, "Making a Life." Every one Is invited to attend these services. ... DISMISS COMPLAINT The complaint on account brought In circuit court by Cecil Clark against Adelaide Houck Griffith, demanding $190, was dismissed today for want of prosecution. Cecil Clark disappeared from the city last year. DISMISS DIVORCE SUIT The divorce complaint of Alice Baker against Charles Baker was dismissed in court today at the cost of the plaintiff. LICHTENSTADT SUED Bernard L. Lichtenstadt of Hagerstown was made defendant in a suit brought in circuit court today by Havens & Geades Co., of Indianapolis, as a complaint on account, demanding $168.50. GO TO NEW YORK Word has been received from Union City that J. Edgar Iliff of this city and his bride, formerly Miss Blanche Drill of that city, . have gone to New York for their honeymoon. Thirty members of Richmond lodges formed a delegation which boarded an auto hack and went to Greensfork last night to meet with the K. of P.'s there. Clarence Mote and Charles Potter of this city were among the speakers. HIRSHDURG WILL SUIT FIXED FOR MARCH 7 Attorneys in the John Hirsbburg will case agreed upon a date for the trial this morning in circuit court after a motion was made by the attorney for the plaintiff asking for a change of judge. The case will begin March 7 and last at least two weeks. Judge 'Gause, of New Castle, will probably be asked to preside as judge although Judge Fox has not definitely decided whom he will appoint. NAME VOTING PLACES County commissioners will meet tomorrow morning for the purpose of deciding upon voting places for the primary March 7. It is probable that that they will appoint a special committee to suggest voting places. BRINGS TITLE SUIT. Forty defendants whose residences are unknown were named in a complaint filed in circuit court today by Daniel Beardon of Marion to quiet title on real estate. Beardon owns a 180-acre farm in Wayne county and desires a clear title to it. Thomas Way is made the principle defendant. The tribe of monkeys on the rock of Gibraltar are carefully protected. DAYTON PEOPLE TO SEE THE BIRTH OF A NATION
"The Birth of a Nation," will draw crowds to Richmond from Dayton and Western Ohio towns. Penelope Parrell, dramatic critic of the Dayton Journal and one of the movie censors of the Ohio state board are among the people from that city who have made reservations to see the film. Superintendent Haney of the Ohio Electric and a party will see the production. Interurban cars of his company are carrying placards announcing the booking of the show in Richmond. Special 10 and 12 o'clock cars westbound from Dayton will accommodate the Ohio visitors for the matinee performances, while the 12:30 p. m. train of the Pennsylvania will afford ample facilities for those wishing to return in the evening. No production booked in Richmond for a decade has aroused such widespread interest in Wayne and adjoining counties as has this monumental piece of motion picture enterprise. Deaths and Funerals. PRECINCT CANDIDATES DROP FROM BALLOTS Since the date for the closing of the registration of candidates in the office of the county clerk, three candidates for precinct committeemen have withdrawn. Because there were two other candidates signed for the Democrat nomination for precinct committee from the Abington precinct, Pierre L. Helms, of Abington, withdrew his name. John G. Clark, of Hagerstown, withdrew his name as candidate for commissioner from the western district on the Democratic ticket. The other withdrawals are: Frank Demaree, Republican candidate for sheriff; Theodore Martin, Progressive candidate for precinct committee from the second precinct, Wayne township.
