iiieno hubs record MADE BY HAGERSTOWfJ

By FRANK DUNING. Hagerstown High basketball team, accompanied and supported by a galaxy of Jefferson township rooters, who completely filled a special car attached to the lata afternoon Pennsy flyer, Invaded the camp of R. H. S. last night with the avowed Intention of placing a blot on the spotless record of games won by the Quakers on the home floor. But the best of Intentions sometimes go for naught as figures on the score board of last night's hostilities at the Coliseum showed. The statistics of the evening's program were, 45-17 with Richmond carrying the majority.

Game Is One-Sided. A typical crowd, the kind that R. H. S. alone can produce, turned out last night to see the wearers of the Red and White annex another game to Its long list of victories. Swelled by the presence of some 100 Hagerstown faithfuls,- the . crowd attending last ulght's battle was estimated at 1,500. From the stand point of a closely contested battle the game was a minus fltwntlty. At no period of the battle did the proteges of Nohr extend themselves to run up an overwhelmingly More on the visitors. Features of the game, while not overly plentiful were still forthcoming time and again and the big crowd was kept on edge throughout the periods of play. Aside from the feature work of the R. II. S. team as a whole, the performance of one Dewey Bookout, (the gentleman with the questionable looking upper lip) took coupons for downright cleverness and class. Bookout proved a "bear" as sub guard of the II. II. S. crew. Pitts Starts Scoring. As per custom, Richmond came early and stayed late. It wasn't very many seconds after Referee Jim Harrington had tossed the sphere for the Initial scrimmage that Guard "Husky Cy" Pitts cornered a pass in Hagerstown territory and the scorers registered a couple of points for the Quakers. Emulating the stunt of their team mate, Clarence Porter, repeated and Bus Parker and "Brownie" trapped fields in order. With the score 8-0, Richmond, Sherry, of Hagerstown trapped a field. The Hagerstown rooters voiced their approval in no gentle manner. The stocky end man of the Blue and Old Gold evidently liked the applause as he repeated the trick a scant minute thereafter. For the remainder of the stanza, Richmond forwards did all the entertaining. Taking a tip from Coach Nohr the R. H. S. squad responded with a flare of team play that netted baskets" in rapid succession. Richmond led throughout the half which ended, Richmond, 25; Hagerstown, 12. Part II of the program was Richmond and more of it. The Quakers, who had shown a woeful lack of pep Jn the opening chapter, seemed less indisposed in the final and Hagerstown did not gain anything by the change In attitude of Nohr's understudies. ' Brown Grows Shadow. Brown, despite the fact that he was trailed by a human shadow in the shape of Guard Mohler, Porter and Parker opened up with some of the Ingredients of team play that stowed Newcastle away last week. Floor, team and formation work of the Quakers was entirely too fast for the H. H. 8. guards this round and the urchin keeping the Richmond side of the score board was overworked before the final shot ended the sufferings of the visiting crowd. Stars of the game, for Richmond, as usual was the entire team, subs included. Every member of the team played to form and contributed his share toward the downing of the visiting host. For Hagerstown, Forward Sherry proved a consistent perforomer although Dewey Bookout contrib'uted materially in the success of the , evening's program. High School Scores Lebanon . HIGH SECONDS EASILY ANNEX OPENING GAME

Just to give the right impetus to the trend of the evening's happenings, the second team of the Richmond high school last night walked away with a 42-17 majority argument with the second team of H. H. S. The local boys .were aggressors from the start and never allowed , the visiting basket shooters to get overly threatening. ' The first few minutes of play were fairly close, but after the high understudies gathered headway there was no halting of the Red and White. Ernie Porter. "Eno" O'Neal, Johnny Foster and Harold Long tossed 'em in from all angles of the floor. Score at the close of the first round was 19-12, with the locals showing the way. Guarding of Long. Foster and MeBride for Richmond In the second round was airtight. The up-county boys failed to register more than two field baskets. The score: H. H. S. Seconds. Gls. Fls. F.Msd. Pts. Smith, f ...
