for their countrymen , in Poland, Galicia ' and S&rbia. are co-oneratinir with a national move
ment to raise a relief fund.
..The Jews of these war-stricken countries
have suffered terribly. Hardly a war correspond
ent who has visited these countries that has not
told of the horrible conditions in which the Jews have been placed. Starvation, exile, deprivation o homes, confiscation of fortunes has been the sad fate of these unfortunate' people. -. Theaiise is a worthy one. Let the city show the same magnanimity it has displayed for the other unfortunates of the war. Quinine Famine.
A bulletin issued by the Pan-American Union takes ud the arowinjr scarcity of quinine. It
asks: "If the European war continues much longer where are the people of the United States to get their usual supply of quinine? At the breaking out of the war sulphate of quinine was selling at about 20-cents an ounce, wholesale. . A year ago it sold for 40 cents; today it is selling for f 1.50 an ounce. When it is stated that during the fiscal year ending June 30, 1914, the last normal year prior to the war, the United States imported nearly 3,000,000 ounces of sulphate of quinine, then valued at about $650,000 and over 3,648,000 pounds of chinchona bark, valued at $464,000, it may be seen what such a difference in price may mean to the country. "How is the European war responsible ? Simply because Great Britain controls the chinchona bark industry in her possessions of India, Ceylon and Jamaica, and Holland the product of Java, land these are the sections of the world which

Demands Mail Routes From All Home Towns
The following article on rural routes has been submitted by a resident of Centerville: Editor Richmond Palladium Please inform the postofflce officials that the patience of the farmers is almost at an end. Also tell them that if they had left our mail route from our home town where It belongs there would be no difficulty to tell to whom each piece of mall belongs. Our postmasters in our home towns know us. For many reasons It is better to have our routes from our home town. With the postoffice twelve or fifteen miles from us our land will depreciate in value. Our freight and express offices are at our home town. Our family physician and our stores are at our home town. If we want supplies sent from the store or medicine from the physician, and our postoffice is at Richmond we must wait two days to receive our parcel post, or in case it is medicine, pay the doctor from $3.50 to $5 for a call which, might have been avoided had pur mail route been from our home town. Give us our old mail routes as
they were. They gave perfect atiafactlon as they were. They do not and never can give satisfaction In the
new motorized system, for we dont want our postoffice twelve or fifteen miles from us. We do not get our dally papers with any regularity at all and we can't get stamps or mail orders or any accommodations, as the postoffice officials are pleased to term It. If they want to cut down cost let them cut the salaries of the carriers to $900. There will be plenty of men ready to carry the mail at that. Or let them take off some of the city carriers and make but one delivery a day, and have the citizens of the city group their mail boxes at the corners of the squares so that the work of the carriers will be less. There would be such a bowl that the nation would be kept awake at night, and they would find that the citizens of the city are no less aelfiah than the farmers. As to addressee lb -periodicals, we do not put our addresses ba jpail coming to us. We. never have missed any
mail when our routes were from our
home town. If we have to go to town for stamps and postoffice orders, we
might as well call for our mail. Give us our old routes back again from our home towns.

EATON CHURCH LETS
TAX CO DELINQUENT
EATON, O., 'Jan. 28. Included in the list of delinquent properties in Preble county is the parsonage belonging to the congregation of the A. M. E. church. The taxes and penalty assessed against the property total $44.16. Only two other; properties in the city are on the delinquent list. In four townships and in three villages there is not a delinquent found. Monroe, Jackson, Harrison and Lanier townships and the villages of Lewisburg, West Sonora and New Westville have clean records. The total number of delinquents Is forty-eight and are represented as follows: West Elkton, 2; Twin township, 2; New Paris, 4; Eaton, 3; Gettysburg, 2; Israel township, 1; Fair Haven, 2; Dixon township, 1; Somers township, 3; Camden, 18; Gasper township, 1; West Manchester, 2; Gratis, 2; West Elkton school district, 1.
M'GRAW ARRESTED
George McGraw of this city was arrested yesterday on a charge of petit larceny. McGraw is wanted In New Castle, Ind., where, it is alleged, he stole some chickens.
