DOVES OF PEACE IN SQUABBLE AT FORD PACIFIST MEETING

THE HAGUE, Jan. 13. Ill feeling which arose lat night during a peace mass meeting under the auspices of the Ford pacifists was still In evidence today. The mass meeting nearly broke up in a riot when Johann Hollanburg, a

Danish delegate to the peace conclave, charged the French with atrocities upon the Germans. The charge was followed with charges of "lies." "You are speaking pro-German lies." It was nearly five minutes before order was restored.

Recorder's Report Shows 590

Mortgages for 1915 Compared With 484 During 1914 on City Property. The so-called "prosperity" of 1915 was given 'a severe jolt today in the report of County Recorder Parsons, whose office is generally considered

a good barometer of husiness condi

tions. The report shows that in 1915 there were 134 more mortgages issued

than In 1914, amounting to an increase

of $126,706. In 1915 there were 590 mortgages issued on property In the city while only 533 were released on

the same class of property. Mortgages on farm land remained about the same there being 349 papers filed and 350

satisfied snowing an even break. On city property the mortgages amounted

to 1703,233 compared with releases

amounting to $632,904.

Tne following table shows plainly the comparative conditions in 1914 and

1915:

Mortgages Filed On farm property, 331, amounting to $689,365 (1914); 349 amounting to $693,395 (1915). Mortgages released On farm property, 297 amounting to 525.366 (1914), 350 amounting to $633,787 (1.15). Mortgages Filed On ci'v property, 484, amounting to $577,634 (1914); 590 amounting to $703,233 (1915). Mortgages Released On city property, 489 amounting to 532.316 (1914); 533 amounting to $632,904 (1915). In the amount of warranty deeds Issued 1915 showed an Increase but In the number of deeds issued a decrease was shown. In 1915, 1,308 deeds were issued while in 1914, 1,347 had been issued. The amounts, however, were as follows: (1914) $1,704,366; (1915). $1,875,276. The report shows that more city property was mortgaged during 1915 than in the previous year. The only decrease in the amount of mortgages filed compared with those released was on school fund mortgages and on the number of liens issued.

"Coffee Don't Hurt Me" Can he get away with' it? The drug, caffeine.in coffee, about 2VZ grains to the average cup, hurts many coffee drinkers, at some time of life, and often hurts them hard. Caffeine is a powerful irritant that unsteadies the nerves, races the heart, disorganizes the digestive organs and plays havoc with the health of a large proportion of coffee users.. Of course, there are some who go on drinking coffee for years, without apparent harm, at least they don't suspect it, until the cumulative drug, caffeine, has got in its work. Isn't it the best plan to play safe with health quit coffee and use Iictait Pstim This pure food-drink made of wheat and a small portion of molasses tastes much like mild, highgrade Java coffee, yet contains no drug or other harmful element. Postum comes in two forms: the original Postum Cereal, must be well-boiled, 15c and 25c packages; Instant Postum, the soluble form, can be made in the cup, at table, adding hot water, 30c and 50c tins. Both kinds are equally delicious and the cost per cup is about the same. The better health that follows quitting coffee has shown thousands
