Short Jabs at Sin

Striking sentences frou. Evangelist

Davis's sermon at Second Presbyter

ian church last evening follow:

Church membership should mean more than a cloak of . respectlblllty.

Too man' people put everything bnt

Ood first in their lives. ' Nothing less than a down right earnestness and enthusiasm for Christ and his church will save the world.

- We seem to be fighting the devil

with a feather duster rather than pitch fork. -

There are always plenty of people

to pour cold water on an evangelistic

effort.

.' Any man may. write our names on

the church book, bnt It requires Almighty God to write our names In the

"Lamb's Book of Life."

Enthusiasm, like the small pox. Is contagious; when It gets started It

spreads over an entire community.

It taies a brother to be a savior one who can enter into our heart ex

periences with a deep sympathy.

Life Is not all comedy, bu; made up In a large part of tragedy. Beneath

the costly robes there are hearts that are wounded and bleeding. Life, to many people, does not seem to be

worth living.. Every day we read of

murders, suicides, etc.

Men and women are groping In

darkness for the Light of Life. It Is

for the church to awaken to her opportunity to lead people Into a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. ' The church- does not ceod mora

pessimists but more optlmlUs. The pessimist see the hole In the dough nut while the optimist sees the dough

nut . ,

. God might have written the plan of

salvation upon the passing storm clouds In shining tetters of gold, but ordained rather that yon and I should

have a part saving men. from the perils of sin. ,
