Arrangement are la r41aesa for the annul Christmas entertainment which will be held by members of the Maennerehpr and their families In the K. of P. Temple on Thursday night according to the report of the com' mittee of which Will Schneider Is chairman, -made to the members of the organisation at their regular ;neetlng last night. About 200 persona are expected to attend the annual entertainment which will consist of dancing and card playing besides a Santa Claus for

the children. Each child will receive

a present. The singers of the Maennerchor will give a program of five different songs. About twenty five members were present at the meeting last night.

COLLISION WITH CAR

The municipal Christmas tree was responsible for a collision last night

between an automobile and a buggy

at Ninth and North A streets which resulted lh the buggy being almost de

molished and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Morgan receiving slight injuries.

opposite direction. When they reach

ed the eorner of Ninth street each turned his vehicle around and as

neither could see the other on ac

count of the Christmas tree they came together. The buggy was overturned and Mrs. Morgan was hurt about the body while Mr. Morgan received minor injuries. One wheel of the auto was

Public prayer meetings each night beginning next Sunday until Thursday night, January 6, will be held at the Second English Lutheran church in the observance of "Universal Weefc o

rrayer, according to arrangements decided upon by the council of that

church, which held Its regular meeting

last night. Six members, representing the whole council with the exception

of two members, who were out of the

city, were present at the meeting.

The annual congregational meeting will be held on Thursday night, January 6. Rev. C. Raymond Isley, pastor

of the church, presided at the session

last night.

CONFRONTING CHURCH

The First Presbyterian church will hold a week of study on the problems

of the church, commencing on Monday, January 3. The subjects will be, "What is the Church? Who Should Belong? What Are the Conditions of Membership? What Ought Church Members to Do? What Ought Not Church Members to Do?" The series 1s proving attractive and the attendance will be large.

PLAN WATCH SERVICE

The first, of the "Pleasant Sunday Eventngs" for young people will be held Jn the First Presbyterian church next Sunday evening. The proceedings will be entirely without set form and there will be. music and brief talks and in general an easy-going friendly time. It is contemplated to continue these pleasant Sunday evenings during the winter.

PLAN UNIQUE WORSHIP

Watch night services will be held at the Grace Methodist church Friday night, beginning at 9 o'clock. The program follows: Prayer and class meeting:, J. W. Mount, 10:00. Symposium, "What We Can Do in the Revival;" Epworth League "Music," Mrs. Ada Cook; Sunday school, Attendance," C. IT. Kramer; Woman's Missionary societies, "Cooperation." Mrs. Alden Mote; Ladies' nd Pastor's Union. "Visitation," Mrs. D. P. Owens: 10:50 social hour; 11:45, "Looking Forward," Pastor; 11: B0, consecration. Every member of the church is requested to attend this service. There will be no prayer meeting on Thursday evening. JENKINS WILL SPEAK.

Prof. Will Jenkins has been selected to address former students of Indiana university during the observance of Foundation Day on Jan. 17 in Richmond. The place of the meeting has not been decided.

At the left is Frederick Schleindl, an employe of the National City Bank in New York, charged with stealing bank documents re. lating to the shipment of war munitions to the Allies. At the top, right, is shown Richard Emil Leyendecker, a New York art dealer, who with Paul Koenig, a high Hamburg American Line official and said to be the head of' the German Secret Service in this country, is held in bail on charges arising from an alleged attempt to blow up the Welland Canal. Leyendecker is said to have acted as Koenig's assistant.

EAGLES ENTERTAIN FOR 600 CHILDREN

Six hundred children received gifts from the members of the Eagles lodge at the Christmas day exercises last Saturday. Toys and candy were given to the boys and the girls received dolls Frank Strayer delivered the address of the afternoon in which he made remarks appropriate to the spirit of day. The entertainment was one of the most successful of its kind ever given by the lodge. The children were entertained with a musical program and games.

BRIDGE LEAVES CITY.

Kev. U. S. Bridge, pastor of the Grace Methodist church will be out of

the city the greater part of the week being called to Portland to officiate at a funeral on Thursday. He will also be in Huntington and Wabash during his absence.

DIVORCED ONES MARRY.

Kent was granted a divorce in the circuit court. Almost immediatly after Mrs. Ellen Ferrell got one, Kent waited for Mrs. Farrell and together they proceeded to the county clerk's office and got a license to wed.

DRUID ORDER MEETS.

Routine business was transacted last night at tee regular meeting of the members of the United Ancient Order of Druids. About forty members were present at the meeting.
