One of the happiest women In Richmond today is Mrs. Mary Oakland, who conducts a wall paper store at 1022 Main street, for her Richmond friends will, have an opportunity to see her , grand-daughter, Bthelmary Oakland, on the screen for the first time when she appears at the Palace theatre in "Hearts of Men," a Charles K. Hani production. Mrs. Oakland has talked so much, she stays, to her friends about the wonderful ability of her grandchild, that she welcomes this opportunity for them to see and judge of the wonderful ability of the child star. Ethelmary Is nearly seven years old but she has had a year's stage experience and is considered one of the most charming children in motion pictures. little Miss : Oakland Is a goldenhaired brown-eyed beauty and in New York city, i where she is forking at present, she is showing wonderful ability to express herself Intelligently on the film. Am Mrs. Oakland expressed it today: "I suppose it sounds silly for me to say. it, but V Ethelmary Is really the most wonderful child appearing In pictures today, y She weeps, laughs, flirts and does many other things In so natural a manner that people forget they are looking at pictures and weep or laugh at the , will of the child. New York Is trying to claim Ethel as its Cm, but she is an Indiana product, ring been born In Indianapolis. "On December 20 the governor of New Jersey entertained Mary Pickford and Ethelmary and he was captivated with the child." While she is only a youngster Miss Oakland receives a salary of $70 a week, rather a munificent sum for a child of her years, and she receives this salary every week while she does not work half the time.
