played in the windows. And such toys as they have in these days for children! Marvelous mechanical engines and dolls and a thousand new inventions every year to amuse and at the same time educate the children. V I have always said that even when I am a grandmother old I shall want to play with toys. It is really one of my pleasures on Christmas, because I cave so many little girl and boyfriends to buy dolls and soldiers for, I think I have aa much fun in selecting them as they have discovering them in their stockings on Christmas; morning. i A Book All Should Read. 'My favorite book is Charles Dick-1 ens' "Christmas Carol." It is the greatest moral lesson ever told, of a man named Scrooge, a hardened old miser, who is carried away by the gho6t of his dead partner on Christmas Eve to different homes, where they, invisible spirits, Loog upon the festivities of others. From the gay, . simple, old-fashioned Christmas party they went to the bleak homes of the poor, and what Scrooge saw there ,awakened the good that had sneaked l&way under the bad of his nature and remolded him into a kindly old philanthropist. If we could only peek through the windows into the lives of others, we would all feel more compassion for those who suffer through poverty and tickness. With a gay song on our lips, but a CATCHES AUTO THIEF INDIANAPOLIS, Dec. 24. It took Detective Walter Coleman nearly two years to recover an automobile stolen from in front of the Murat theatre April 28. 1914. James Wilson, arrested by Coleman, confessed the theft. He sold the machine shortly after he took it. The machine was originally owned by H. G. Shafer, superintendent of the Nordjke and Marmon company. OUCH! LUMBAGO!
