has been attending a house party at Three Rivers, Michigan.

The B. B. B. Thimble club did not meet Wednesday afternoon. The next meeting will be held the fourth of January and the hostess will be announced later. -

Mrs. Howard Longfellow was hostess yesterday afternoon for a meeting of the Narcissus Embroidery club. The afternoon was spent socially and with needlework. Refreshments were served. The deferred meeting of the Current Events Club was held Wednesday afternoon with Mrs. J. Fay Holaday at her home' in West Richmond. An gxchange of Christmas gifts waa made at this time. The rooms were decorated in tbe Christmas colors, red and green. Three new members and one guest, Mrs. Levert Hazeltine were in . attendance. .Mrs. George Worley told a pretty Christmas story. A social hour followed and refreshments were served. The club will meet next Wednesday afternoon with Mrs. Efiee Afton Hall.

Mrs. Eugena Anderson was hostess Wednesday afternoon for a meeting of the Neighborly club at her home on the National Road, East. Fourteen members were present. The afternoon was spent socially and with needlework. Refreshments were served. Next Thursday evening the members will entertain their husbands at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Shute. Miss Ruth Edgerton, a student at West Town, is the guest of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Edgerton. A box of fruit from Los Angeles, Cal., has been received by Mrs. J. B. Elliott as a Christmas gift from her sister. Christmas decorations predominated throughout the spacious rooms, ropes of cedar and laurel branches hanging from chandeliers and doorways, while great clusters of bright yuletide blossoms decked every vantage point when Miss Katherine Van Ausday entertained at her home in Dayton, O. Miss Janet Reynolds, who will spend the holidays In this city, presided at the tea table which was attractive with vivid scarlet poinsettas and pretty red-shaded candles. The affair was in honor of several visiting guests. , A Christmas party was given this afternoon from 2 until 5 o'clock at the First Christian church by the officers and teachers of the Sunday School in honor of the juniors and members of the primary department'

DETROIT, Dec. 23. Frank H. Jennison, 35, a Wabash fireman in a fit of jealousy cut the throat of his 22-year-old wife, Ethel, as she slept and then cut his own throat. Their two year old baby lying beside Mrs. Jeunison was unharmed.

ROSER TREATS ORPHANS TO MOVIE FILM The joys and mysteries of the "movie" , houses will entertain the homeless boys and girls of the Wernle Orphans home at the Lyric next . Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. jCharles Roger, proprietor of the" house, has invited the whole orphanage1 to 'be his guests on that afternoon. Mr. Roser has obtained a film for the occasion that will appeal-to the boys and girls of the orphange. It is entitled "A Bachelor's Christmas." The film was booked here especially for the entertainment of the boys and girls who-, seldom have the privilege of watching a moving picture show. .After the performance, the children will be taken to Price's confectionary store where they will be treated to ice cream and cake by The Palladium, tbe cast: being borne by the Christmas fund of this paper. The orphans are keenly anticipating their visit' to the Lyric. Few of them have ever seen a motion picture, and Mr. Roser's treat will be one of genuine Jnterest to the orphans. CHRISTMAS PAGEANT AT FRIENDS CHURCH

The Bible school of East Main Street Friends' meeting, will give a Christmas pageant Sabbath evening at 7:30. - Those in the production - will be clothed in costumes similar to those used at the time of Christ's birth. An immense scenic background in full colors, 9 feet by 27 feet, showing a panoramic view of Bethlehem and the plains of the shepherds will be used, while white and colored lights will be employed in a way which will add greatly to the reality. Forty members of the school will take part in the production'. Everybody welcome.

He ruled that the defendant shall pay the court costs, which are about $53. The original claim was for $79.02, and the trial lasted four days, with a total cost of over $300. -

Next Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock, Richmond Grove of Druids w)U initiate a class of fifty candidates Into the mysteries of the order. The work Sunday is made necessary because some of the candidates are residents of the small neighboring towns and they could not be present at a regular meeting to receive the work. The local grove has de much progres within the last year and now has a membership above the five hundred mark. The committee in charge of the New Year's celebration has made, arrangements for a big entertainment and it expected that nearlv every member ' the organization will visit the rooms on that day.
