BETHEL M. E, GIVES CHRISTMAS CANTATA

Ninety people will participate In the Christmas cantata to be held at Bethel A. M. E. church on Dec. 37. The Holy One of Israel" will be produced with duets. Mot, quartets and two choirs of over fifty voices, and promises to be one of the musical treats of the year. The program: Introductory Worship. - Anthem by the choir, "Rejoice,-O Daughter of Zlon;" Invocation, Rev. J. P. Wallace. Part I Awaiting His Coming. , Bible recitation; song by the school, "God Be With Us"; recitation by Mary, "I Am Weary of the Waiting"; duet by Mary and Joseph, "God's Love Is All Around Us." 5 Part II The Promised Time Draws Nigh. . Song by the school, "Hail, Happy Morning;" recitation, "As Caesar Hath Decreed"; sung by the choir," Comfort Ye My People;" primary motion song, "Father, Keep Us In Thy Love;" exercise, "A Vision of the Night;" men's quartet by Rabbis, "He Shall Come." Part III Behold He Cometh. Song by the school, "Birth-Bells of Jesus;" recitation and drill, "The Dayright Flies;" duet and angel chorus, "Hark! a Song Thro' the Skies Resounding;" tableau, "Around His Bed;" anthem by the choir, "God So Lcved the World;", exercise. "On the Way to Bethlehem;" song by the shepherds and the school, "Star of the Orient;" recitation, "Once a Shining Star;" primary solo and chorus, "Pretty Stars Look Down on Me." Part IV Triumphant Praise. Song by the school and the choir, . "All Hall the Redeemer;" exercise, "The Wise Men's Search;" trio by the ' Wise Men, "Marching to the Manger Bed;" song by the class and the school, "Sing Hallelujah;" short address, "What Gifts Shall We Bring to the King;" closing song by the school ' and the choir. "Our Glorious King;" benediction by the pastor and the 1 choir.

FIRST M. E. TO GIVE CHRISTMAS CANTATA

The choir of the First M. E. church I will give a Christmas cantata Sunday evening. Under the direction of : Prof. R. C. Sloane the choir will render George B. Nevln's "Adoration." Solos will be taken by Mrs. John Marshall, Mrs. Ray Longnecker and George Hodge. At the morning service the Sunday school has arranged a program of recitations and songs. The primary department is practicing on a special program to be given as part of the Sunday mqrning service. Elaborate decorations appropriate to the season are in the hands of a special committee.

CONTRIBUTE FOOD TO HOTEL DE BUM

With the opening of the Hotel de Bum in the basement of the city hall w here tramps and homeless men may stay over night in the shelter and receive a bit of breakfast the next morning, numerous contributions of substantial food have been made by charitably inclined citizens. The contributions Include a bag of potatoes, apples, sugar and which is prepared for the men by one of the police officers.

SPA WILL CLOSE.

Announcement was made today that the restaurant of the Y. M. C. A. will be closed on Christmas Day to give the employes an opportunity to enjoy the annual holiday.

SKIDS DOWN BANK.

Lane Meyers, a. farmer living near Greensfork, had a narrow escape from death yesterday near his home when a big touring car, which he was driving, skidded off the road into a ditch and turned completely over. Meyers took the tumble with the machine but escaped without a scratch.

HOLD BOARD SESSION.

Members of the board of the South Side Imprevement association met in regular session last night and transacted routine business. Nothing of especial importance came up for discussion. At the next meeting in two weeks the newly-elected officers will be installed. Adojph Blickwedel presided last night.

Special offerings for the Wernle Orphans' Home will be "taken at St. John's church during the Christmas holiday services, was the announcement made today by the Rev. A.. J. Feeger. He also, stated that a check for $100 bad been forwarded to New York as the contribution of SL John's church for relief -work among the wounded German and Austrian soldiers. Contributions for this purpose are still coming in. The movement to aid the war stricken sufferers began two weeks ago. . ; . "
