EMBROIDERY CLUB OF MILTON HOLDS SOCIAL MEETING
MILTON, Ind., Dec. 20. The entertainment committee of the Embroidery club gave a party for members and their husbands at the home of Mrs. li. H. Warren Friday evening. The company was composed of Messrs. and Mesdames I. H. Warren, R. W. Warren, Ott Crownoxer, Albert Newman, Oliver Wallace, Wilbur Elwell, Frank DuGranrut, George Wagner, W. H. Brown, Mrs. Harry Manlove, E. P. Jones, Edward Wilson, Walter Templln, F. C. McCormick and Frank Lallaway. The decorations were in the Christmas colors. The hostesses were Mesdames L. H. Warren, E. P. Jones, F, C. McCormick, Ed Wilson and Walter Templin. Among the games played was a "coon hunt." There were two hunters wearing green and red ribbons, and the remainder of the company were chosen on each side and were hounds and wore the color of the hunter to whom they belonged. The dogs did a lot of barking and caught a number, of coons in the form of colored dolls. Santa Claus and the Christmas dinner also proved very amusing entertainment. H. Heist and Miss Cora Brown furnished the music at the funeral of Peter Vannatl. . . . Miss Blanche Coyne, who attends school at Detroit is home for the holidays.... The Home club met Friday evening with Mrs. O. Ferguson. Mrs. Josie Johnson was a guest. The ladies giving the program were Mrs. Ferguson, Mrs. W. P. Moore, Mrs. Joseeph Doddridge and Miss Nettie Bennett. Refreshments were served. EATON, O., Dec. 20. A recordbreaking price for land was established when Frank Horn purchased for $16,840 a farm of 150 acres. The land lies in Monroe township, and was sold following a partition suit filed in common pleas court by Frank J lorn against Ella and D. E. Horn and Jennie Horn.

MODOC, Dec. 20. The two Modoc high school basket ball teams won their games Friday evening at Mcdoc. The second team defeated the Economy first team 30 to 10, while the first team defeated the MeKinley high school team near Winchester in a one-sided game, the score being 43 to 8. The Modoc teams have won six games and lost none this season. Held for Assault. Dell Swain who has held a position with the Atlantic Tea company, was arrested when he returned to Modoc Wednesday evening and was taken to the county jail by Sheriff Henney. L. S. Wineland of Bryan, O., a police officer, said he was wanted there on a charge of assaulting a woman.

EATON, O., Dec. 20. David Peters, for many years in the-real estate and loan business, is seriously ill t his home on East Somers street. He is affected by a complication of ailments and lias been practically an invalid for the last eighteen months. He is 81 years of age. E. S. Stotler, 90, reputed to be the county's wealthiest resident, is confined to his home on East Main street. A few days ago he was overcome by illness in his home and fell to the floor. His condition, however, is not regarded as serious.
