QUIGLEY'S SHOT WINS OVERTIME FROM WIE
After seeing Lou Quigley cage the goal last night that gave Richmond the first overtime game of the season with Muncle, fans are wondering why the team suffered a 9-2 defeat away from home .Tuesday night. The result of last night's fray was 7-6, the winning. goal being made after one minute and thirty seconds overtime. Richmond took the lead early and held it by a omfortable margin until the final frame when Muncle uncorked some come-back stuff and tied the count with only about a minute to play. " The up-state boys were greatly strengthened by the addition of Williams, whose cleverness found Its match in the defensive work, however, of Sox Quigley and Evans. For the first time in many moons a rush appeared on the floor who got to the spot ahead of Lou Quigley, who is about the fastest first rush playing the game in the west. Fahrner and Williams were first in eleven niBhes, while the score gives Quigley credit for being ahead five times. Summary: Rushes Farhner, 9; Williams, 2; Quigley, 5. Ooals--Fahrner, 4 ; . FIRST FIVE STARTS BROOKVILLE GAME
Because Brookville always has been and always will remain a dark horse, Coach Nohr will take no chances tomorrow night when that team plays the high school. The regulars will start the game and play until victory is assured. The curtain raiser will be played, beginning at 7:30 o'clock, by the high school seconds and the Hagerstown seconds. The record of the second five is almost as good as that of the varsity, the boys having lost only one game, that to the first team of Mooreland. The Hagerstown seconds were defeated a week ago.

: Threatening to marry his rival after her tearful plea had not dissuaded him from joining the United States army for a term of three years, the 20-year-old sweetheart of a young machinist of Richmond, temporarily out of employment, succeeded in frustrating his Intention to become a recruit, according to the excuse . offered by the young man to Sergeant F. D. Bond, recruiting officer who is here for a week.'; ' . - He told the officer that he offered to marry his betrothed before he he was recruited, but she objected, and argued that ; his absence would mar all the expected bliss of matrimony. For a while she cried, he explained, and then finally declared she would break the engagement if he left the city to become a soldier, marrying the other suitor for her hand Instead. .Hears Army Appeal. ."Gee whiz, I'd like to go." he said to Sergeant ' Bond. "The army appeals to me. But what could I do when she cried? Beside, I . hate that other guy, and I don't want to lose her. Maybe I can go later." Names were withheld by the officer. Two young men. Sergeant Bond says, have joined. One of these left Monday and one Tuesday. They will be accepted for-enlistment at the general recruiting station in Indianapolis and then sent to : Columbus, O., where they will undergo a four weeks' training course. At the end of that period they will probably be assigned to
duty on the Mexican-American border in Texas. Quite a number of young men are discussing the army service with the recruiting officer. Sergeant Bond' says. He declared that more interest la being manifested in the army this time than was shown during his former visits here. This is due. he says, probably to an enroused patriotism resulting from President Wilson's message to Congress in which he advocated the increase of the number of regulars In the United States army. -
