National officers of the Phi Delta Kappa fraternity will be entertained by the Beta Delta Chapter of the Phi Delta Kappa of Connersville, Thursday December 30.' . In honor of Mr. and Mrs. Shuman Jones of California, who are guests here, Mrs. B. B. Johnson will entertain members of a card club Saturday evening at her home on East Main street. Two hundred persons attended the entertainment given last evening in the hall, at Centerville under the - direction of Miss Bessie Buhl and held for the benefit of the Camp Fire Girls Messrs. Howard Messick and William Price, former pupils of Miss Buhl, assisted and did splendid work. The first play was entitled, "Aunt Pris cilia's Proposal." The cast was as - follows : - Aunt Prlscilla, Nova Sbadle ; Dr. Thorndyke, Mr. Ivan King; Dolly Dutton, Miss Ruby Castator, Deacon Evergreen, Mr. Howard Messick; Topsy Tarball, Miss Mildred Driffil; Kate Keene, Miss Josephine Barton. The other play, "A Bottle of Poison," was presented by Mr. Howard Messick. si Drv Dexter? 'The Wednesday bridge club did not meet yesterday afternoon. The meeting was held this afternoon at the home of Mrs. Thomas M. Kaufman in the Pelham apartments. Rev. and Mrs. John Ferguson of Monmouth College, Illinois, will spend the week end with Mr. and Mrs. George O. Ballenger at their home on the National road west. An exenange or presents was made. The hostess served luncheon. The annual-chicken dinner of the Third M. E. church will be held Saturday from 11 until 1 o'clock in the Pythian temple and a fifteen cent lunch will be served in the evening. The menu will include chicken potpie, mashed potatoes, escalloped corn, slaw, apple sauce, cherries, pickles, jellies, bread and butter, pie and coffee. The public Is invito . Little Town of Bethlehem." - Miss Alice Knol lenberg played a. pretty organ number for the opening of the program, followed by "Holy Christmas Night" by the trio with violin obligate by Miss Carolyn Hutton. Beautiful organ num bers were played by Mrs. Lewis C. King and Miss Ethel Huber. A solo, "Under the Silent Stars," was sung by Mrs, Fred J. Bartel in her usual pleas ing manner. The program was well arranged and was thoroughly enjoyed. Committees to arrange for the an nual Christmas dinner to be given Dec. 29 at the Pythian' temple by the Penny club for the unfortunate children of the city, were appointed at the meeting held Wednesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. David Golden. . The ' Young People's branch of the Mary F. Thomas W. C.-T. U. will meet Friday evening at the - home of Mr. Paul Underhlll, 120 North Twentieth street. The Christmas exchange which has been held for the past week at Grace M. E. church was closed last evening, The circle realized a large sum of money. The Ardmore club has issued invi tations for a dance to be given at the K. of P. temple this evening- The Weisbrod Four will furnish, the pro gram of dances. This is the second one of the series of dances the club will give during the season. TO ACCIDENT IDEA Dr. R. D. Morrow, county coroner, has 'not completed the investigation of the death of Mrs. Bridget McNamara, 951 Butler street,' who was killed by falling - off -the river embank ment into the -river seventy feet be low, ..Tuesday morning. -Her frozen body was found under the ice yesterday morning. - , "There is a possibility that Mrs. McNamara committed suicide, although evidence shows that at the time of her death she was enjoying her usual health and bad shown no suicid al tendencies,", the coroner said. "It is also true that she was in the habit of wandering away from home. The only indication that she might have committed suicide is the fact that she had never wandered along the river bank before. . Members of the family do not entertain the suicidal theory. No one saw Mrs. McNamara fall to her death." . The funeral will, be held Friday morning at 9 o'clock at St. Mary's church. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery. Friends may call , at the home of her .daughter, Mrs. John Klinger, Butler street, at any time. JUNIOR CHOIR MEETS.
